Hi,

I know we have talked about this before in older posts but would like to see if anyone knows something more about this.

I like that CarPlay automatically starts playing music when I get in my car. However it is pretty random when this works.

I have created an automation for when my phone connects it starts playing. It's not the greatest, because sometimes (like getting gas) it starts playing on my phone speakers if the car isn't on.

Just curious if anyone has some inside info on making this more reliable? thanks!

I have created a similar automation this week, will let you know my experience. Just to confirm, your automation is based on "when CarPlay connects" right? Planning to try "when wifi connection" after couple of weeks later

This is cool, never thought of that. Can someone tell me the steps they used in the automation? I'm assuming through the Shortcuts app?

I'd love my iPhone to do the following every time I get into my X7. Possible?

Connect to Carplay
Launch Google Maps
Launch SiriusXM & Play Specific Station
Set Dashboard view on Carplay

Possible?

Yes, it's the shortcut app.

I'm sure the first two, Google map and SiriusXM possible. We can set it to run this automation when CarPlay connects. Not sure about the dashboard view.

When it connects to CarPlay I have it play playlist in Apple Music. However, I think Im going to stop that because it does start playing on my phone before it connects to the car. Which is a bit strange sounding. Mail4loys Wouldn't that be inside your house as well?

Cant you set a rule to lower volume of phone first so when it starts playing no music is heard through phone. Then once it transfers to CarPlay, you should be good.

@kdesign7 I too saw couple of times music starts playing in iPhone. The observation was, iPhone connects through the CarPlay and waits till the welcome screen on the car is dismissed . If the welcome screen is not dismissed, it starts playing in the iPhone . Also, If you start the car ( which automatically takes to Home Screen) the music plays in the car

I'm enjoying this though.
