If they could sell me one without the third row seat, I’d buy one now.

Very cool! First things I'm noticing:
- There does seem to be a few bugs (surprise surprise), as me adding on the space saver spare tire, and glass controls, each also told me it was adding on the $1650 offroad package onto my M-sport configured vehicle, which isn't possible. - Sure enough, as I thought was the case, the 21" all-black wheels are still not available on the M-sport line, even though this is indicated possible in the ordering guide. Must be omission, as guessed. - Cool, full shadowline trim also available on 40i. - That new Fineline Cross Black with Aluminum Inserts trim looks a lot more subdued than previous pictures. Maybe they toned it down. Looks good. I'd still need to see it in person. - I'm configuring a Full Black Merino leather interior. "Anthracite Alcantara headliner" is defaulted with that. If I try to choose "Alcantara Headliner in upholstery color", it changes my leather to the all-white. - No B&W option for the 40i! WTF? - Something must be wrong. If I choose every option available, except for Rear Seat Entertainment and Aluminum Running boards, which is how I'd want my rig fully loaded, it "only" comes out to $100,180 MSRP. I was calculating right at $105k for my fully loaded 40i rig. The B&W was $3500, so something else is missing somewhere, or off. - Yes, no 3DS Display Key listed as available - Yes, Driver Recorder now part of parking package - Both Gesture Control and Rear Electric side shades are listed, so they must have resolved the supply issues with those. |

:mad0 260: Maybe that's why my configured 40i is coming out lower, because they took out my LED sunroof and cooled cupholders. Not cool, BMW. You and me both! |

Here's the way my Mineral White 40i is configuring, with Extended Shadowline trim, M-sport, Full Black Merino interior, and black trim with aluminum inserts.
Tough to tell, but the Extended Shadowline may not be showing black for the rear horizontal chrome bar on the hatch. Here's what the configurator says about that option: Quote:

They just launched the new configurator and there is always something initially wrong with it. You have to keep in mind how conplex this is with so many options. The order guide is what counts... |

So, for direct comparison, I just spec'd out an M50i, the same way I would want it, fully loaded except for Aluminum running boards (note: not even available for the M50i) and Rear seat entertainment.
M50i: $121,180 40i: $100,180 To quote E.T., "Oooooouuuuuuuuuuuchhhhh". So here's what the extra $21k would get me, none of which apparently available on 40i anymore: - New M50i engine with buttload more power - Cerium grey wheels (kinda look funny with Extended Shadowline Black accents) - B&W audio system ($3400 option) - Panoramic LED Sunroof - Heated and Cooled Cupholders - Laser headlights (still constrained for US market) Note, of course, that there is no "M-sport 50i". The M50i **is** the M-sport version of the 50i, so you have to go all-out if you're looking for the M-sport in the 50i line. That's a lot of extra cheddar, if I'm just wanting to stay with the LED sunroof, cooled cupholders, and B&W audio. I know it's silly, but the cooled cupholders were something I was really looking forward to, along with the other stuff. Another note: Yes, definitely bugs in the configurator. As I said about, on the 40i, if I select "headliner alcantara in leather color", it turns my black interior all white. On the M50i, selecting the same thing keeps the all-black interior, but turns the headliner all white, lol. Last edited by Wild Blue; 08-14-2019 at 10:52 AM.. |

Hmm, something else I noticed which was not so clear on the pricing-guide:
I did know that if you opt for full leather, you would also need to order the leather dash. However, I assumed that also meant you would have to pay for it. Looking at my configuration, the price with full leather is listed as '-' just like the headliner in upholstery color, which would make it free. I'm not seeing in the pricing guide that the leather dash is free with full leather - only that it is required. Any input on that? |

And here's my same configured X7, now in the M50i line. The cerium grey wheels look weird with the Extended Shadowline Trim. There's no black or dark wheel options for the M50i.

With the current wheel-selection on the M50i, that would be the set I'd pick as well. But on a Mineral White one with the extended shadowline, nothing beats the black M-wheels. So if nothing changes, the M50i will be faster - but the 40i is going to look better. Hahaha... |

Here's a configurator pic of the new individual black trim with aluminum inserts.
Like I said earlier, looks better and more subdued than previously indicated. I like that it's classy, but adds a sporty feel to it. This is why I've had aluminum trims in all my previous Bimmers. . |

I have a 50i that stickered for $114,800. I built an M50i this morning with the exact same options/colors, and it was $116,400. I’m not sure why they’re even still making the regular 50i if the price difference is this little. I don’t know what scenario would cause someone to purchase one when they could spend $2000 more and get the extra hp.

I have this trim on my 'wish-list' as well.
I'd say Wild Blue hit the nail on the head: It's sporty due to its alu-inlays and pattern while still elegant due to its dark wood. It just matches the M-Line - especially when combined either with black leather or as a contrast, the all ivory. Another advantage: It looks great combined with the B&W speaker colors. You have a great contrast which makes the covers in the doors pop out AND you have the alu in the trim match the covers, too. Don't get me wrong, I still like the piano and the ash grain trims but I think they would be a better match on the luxury line edition. |
