FYI The Canadian PP does not include the HomeLink nor the compass in the mirror. As a factory special order it costs $400ish plus a $400 special order charge. I passed.
I very much like robray's idea w/ ages944 modification. |

I had a lot of trouble getting mine to work using the garage remote. I had to go to the opener in the garage and open up the light cover and there was a "learn button". I was able to get it to work this way.

Try printing a photo showing the part from this thread and taking it to Radio Shack, they should have something suitable.

The model number for the switch I used was Radio Shack# 275-644.
Link If you go with this switch, bear in mind that it's a tight fit in the ashtray, and you may have to grind down the side of the switch on the hidden side of the ashtray to make it all fit back together. Also, note that I routed out the 'ribs' on the visible part of the ashtray surrounding the switch button. This left me with a nice clean look, but it took some careful routing with my dremel.

Great mod, however I don't understand how you can hardwire the the remote power to the car. I don't know about your garage remotes but my remote uses a single AA 1.5V battery to power the remote. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the voltage that comes out of the ashtray is a 12V line. So hardwiring a 12V line into a 1.5V would fry the remote.

The solution of having the garage door opener hardwired for power keeps the solution worry free (at least for the power). |

Push button switch - old computer
Connectors - "RESET SW" pin Like ages994, I put the garage door opener underneath the tray so I can easily change the battery when it runs out. I drilled two holes in the ashtray. One where everyone else drilled, and another one to pass the wires from one "section" to the other. |

Wow that is really neat! Looks like alot of work, if anything I might short a few things by mishandling and damn I am out a few fuses. Still something I would pay some pro to do it.
