I increasingly see this evolving total design focus on interior 'living space' with exterior design almost as an afterthought - speaks to the ever increasing new consumer desire to play with electronics in an automated people carrier vs pride in driving a sleek and 'driver focused' vehicle. Not good omens!

BMW X lines are really starting to resemble Volvo's.

Those chrome hockey sticks every where need to go, if the grille was maybe 1/2 smaller or just a 1/4 smaller than it is, it would be good.

The next gen Qx80 concept is an improvement over the elephant like abomination they have right now.

If bmw keeps making the grill larger and larger I'm going to have to jump ship. This thing is pretty ugly.

Real mature there! Dont knock till you try it. Pretty quick, capable people hauler. More comfortable than the competition. Great for long road trips and hauling family. Rock solid reliability and you can beat on it like a truck. 3 rows when needed vs RR. Styling maybe polarizing but it beats the hell out of a minivan. To be honest, sometimes I drive it to work rather than the M or 911.

Agree the qx80 monogram handily beats the x7 concept.

After a day of trying to digest this thing and coming back to it many times, its still horrendous. Now that my eyes are accustomed to the look of it, I'll say, the grills are most likely this big because they also encompass the space of the Rolls Royce massive grill. So these massive grills will probably be the same on the production car. Get used to them. Why does BMW insist on making they're cars look like they were t-boned with that horrible coke bottle shape on the door panels?

This poor thing is a Frankenstein, its a mix of BMW having this planned before the housing bubble burst 10 years ago, so the shell is from then, when they had originally wanted to build it, but they just added current new design language they're using in the future. In other words it looks like a 10-15 year old X5 with concept Z4 and 8 series bits.

Kill it....

LMAO! That's comedy gold right there. Well played!

BTW, I guess I am in the minority because I really like this design (the actual concept, not the above photoshopped parody ). Sure, the grill is huge, Yuge! even, and the hockey sticks are very hockey-sticky. But those will be toned down for production. I truly think it's going to be a good looking SUV once it rolls out of the factory. The concept is just overly-concept-ified to cause a stir and make us all want to comment on it.

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...

... what is imitating the Chinese imitation of an X5 and enlarging the grille?

A design disaster.

This is a rendering of where Cadillac design might head.
I saw the next gen's (Escalade) interior. All I can say is wow.

The OLED screen is almost jaw dropping in its originalness. It's not identical but very close to the one in the Escala concept.

No doubt, next gen Caddys will be great.

Man the old e70 platform and f15 just got a whole bunch better looking.

At this rate they will be classics !

I try and give the benefit of the doubt but this latest stuff is just getting gaudy. The thing that separated good German design from the rest of the pack was good practices of showing restraint and tasteful elegance, this stuff is becoming almost a joke.

Don't get me wrong theirs some fantastic details but as a whole it's to much.

The big grills are designed for the quad turbo set up needing a lot of oxygen
