Drive Recorder Operation?
So my wife was sitting in the pharmacy drive thru waiting to pick up a prescription and she was rear ended in X7 - $1200 worth of damage later and I'm getting hassled by her insurance company (Liberty Mutual) about whether she was at fault. My wife was literally sitting in the car with it in park! My question is would the impact have triggered the drive recorder to store any footage, and if so I do I access it? Thanks in advance for any help.

You could access it through the "Driver Recorder" app in the "Apps" section of iDrive. If the video is there, you could easily export it to a usb.
As far as if it recorded something, there's an option for that within the drive recorder app, so if it's set, maybe? There has been a report or two of that not working, but that may have been user error. Unfortunately, even if that option is ticked, I think it's less likely in your case if she actually had the car in Park since all the parking sensors might be off at that point. You might want to check with the pharmacy, if she was at the window, they likely at minimum have a camera covering the window where you might be able to see her car at a standstill prior to impact.

It should have recorded and marked the recording with date of accident.
Here's a post in the G05 forums where a forum member's X5 was rear ended and Drive Recorder recorded the incident without prior activation: Rear ended, Drive Recorder Footage https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1749599 Plug a USB thumb drive formatted in ExFat in the USB port in the cup holder/lighter center console. If you need a USB, my personal recommendation is the Samsung FitPlus - 32/64GB: Samsung MUF-64AB/AM FIT Plus 64GB - USB 3.1 Flash Drive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D7P4SY4..._EPspFb2P6225W Insert USB-A thumb drive in the center console: Accessing Drive Recorder: Navigate to Installed Apps > Select Drive Recorder Saved Recordings Select recording date and time Select one of the views to view recording Push iDrive controller to the right or tap Export Export this or all recording to USB Remove USB drive and insert in your favorite computer, navigate to Drive Recorder folder > open recording folder > view using a media player like VLC. Exported videos are encoded in MPEG-2 Transport format:
