2006 E90 330D - EGR Removed - EML.

Hi all,

Fitted a EGR delete, swirl flap blanks & pipercross filter element to my 330D today.

Having read the forums, seems to be sheer luck if the EML comes on after fitting the delete kit.

Code is: DME/DDE 31 Engine Problem, Increased Emissions

I'll be having it mapped out soon along with the DPF removal, but will it affect it before then? Other than annoying me with the EML haha.

Have also noticed a strange noise when the engine is off - Something to do with vacuum hoses, as the noise fluctuates if I squeeze the vacuum hose from the EGR. Any ideas?

sounds like you have an air leak to me, check all the vacuum hoses, make sure you dont have a leak or a hose left un connected or blocked off

Seems to run fine anyways. Shall just replace the vaccum lines I fiddled with, got some silicon vacuum hose handy anyway.

Noticed today that pressing the brake a few times stops the noise! Almost certainly an air leak then.

Found out the issue.

On my EGR delete kit, the vacuum pipe is solid - Thus the vaccum is blocked off, as in this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=190872321834

However, that vacuum pipe should allow the vacuum hose to work properly, like this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=190887262206

I've emailed the seller to have this replaced. I have the pipe removed just now with a filter on it, as it stops the strange noise. EML is still on though. May just put the EGR back on!

On my 2006 330d I have had this same http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=190872321834 egr bypass fitted on mine for about 6 months now with a dpf delete and ecotune maxitune remap with no probs at all, are you sure that its not another vac leak causing the EML or is it still waiting to be remapped?

I refitted my original EGR and the EML went out right away. It wasn't the EML that was the problem, it was the awful noise it was making that made me remove the bypass kit.

egr vac pipe should be blanked or attached to egr diaphragm it shouldn't be allowed to leak vacuum.
