Sold my m340i and getting an X7 40i, will I regret not getting DHP?
Family is getting bigger so I’m in the market for a bigger SUV, getting an m60i is unfortunately not in the budget. I’m building an X7, for someone coming from an m340 will I regret not optioning DHP on a 40i?

Yes x1000. Of all vehicles you absolutely need DHP at this level and what performance you are use to. Even getting DHP on a 40i wasn’t available before.

Thanks, I haven’t been able to test drive a 40i with it, only without and felt it was “ok” I guess I would notice. They did have an m60i, but at that point if I test drove it, I’m sure it would for sure sway me.

Absolutely reccomend. I’m a week in with a new to me 40i + DHP and the smaller turning radius absolutely makes going in and out of parking garages and spots a breeze. It minimizes a lot of extra 3 point turns for sure… and even in situations where I think I can’t make a turn all the way cuz of the size … it does it. Doing u-turns with it is incredible. I was going back into a narrow two lane road and absolutely amazed I cleared the sidewalk and everything with ease. I’m coming from a X3 and I feel the X7 turning radius w IAS is even tighter than it.
And then with the electric stablizer bars, I do feel it does minimize body roll around curves and makes the X7 much more planted for its size. Last edited by sky-raptor; 11-05-2023 at 12:53 AM.. |

Yes.
If you know what it does on a large SUV you can’t go back. People who are unsure about it have really not used it day to day. It’s pretty amazing that it makes such a large vehicle feel smaller. |

I saw a Mercedes EQS steer with the rear. Very weird looking but could turn really sharp considering how long the car is. Seems like if buying CPO, it’s a $20k premium as you have to get the M50 V8. Not sure I trust long term reliability of the V8 (100k miles).

I just placed an M60i order. Considering the standard options you are getting, a loaded 40i vs M60i becomes an easy choice. Plus M60i gets a proper M engine, meaning once the ECU gets cracked you are probably looking at 800hp crank with just stage 1. IMO 40i is only worth it if you are getting a stripped one, which is the volume seller at every dealer anyway.
