No, sorry I don't. Supply chain issues are still hurting things but hopefully they will start normalizing as we get towards the end of the year.

Thank you, I had heard that BMW simply decided to make it a unique feature of the M60i, but perhaps it is supply chain issues that will normalise. I've found people on this forum actually seem to know a good deal more than those at BMW.

Previous info was incorrect, MGU5 was used from the beginning of production and BMW has confirmed 8.5 update will be available.

I wonder if MGU5 will have the new chip and use snapdragon. Or if it will be the same and just released with Idrive 8.5. I’m way over my head reading and trying to de-code all the different blogs and different information out there. From what I read, MGU5 is still Linux-based, and then Idrive 9 runs Android to introduce the App Store for more entertainment.

Who knows, we are ready to make the purchase, and I’m so excited—just trying to hustle to find below MSRP.

It has been talked about in various threads including this one. See post 890 on the previous page for an internal chart from BMW showing the head units.

The timing of 8.5 being in August production and all April - July vehicles being updated was from BMW's May press release.

I see a lot of discussion and rumors about ID8.5. While nothing is formal, some have interrupted magazines news as formal. I intentionally did not comment again as this was answered previously but nothing had changed/confirmed yet.

To summarize:

2024 X7 - July+ build: Will come with MGU5, has live augmented reality in the driver infotainment screen, updated/newer modules and highway hands-free driving, and of course same new service pack that started 4/23

Let's try not to be derogatory! 5and7 has provided information that I have found very helpful. Sometimes accurate information at a given point in time can change due to later circumstances. I don't think we want to discourage valuable contributors to the forum IMHO.

So if some people have received there 24' X7's is there a way to check on the screen what HU is there? If there is a way to check I will post when I get mine. I will ask at the dealership also when I pick it up if they know how to find out.

Dealer ISTA+ software can identify module HW version.

Latest ISTA database has MGU21A (4+ version) for X7 that means that at least some X7s has 4+ version.


P.S. BMW issued SIB 65 18 23 at 2023-06-29 that states:"Customers that have BMW Operating System 8 with the HU-H4 head unit WILL NOT be able to move to BMW Operating System 8.5. Also, due to the multiple hardware, software and wiring harness changes, a retrofit option from the HU-H4 head unit to the HU-H5 head unit WILL NOT be possible. "

Have your SA, or someone else with access to the parts database, look up the head unit for your VIN. It should show High 5.

There have been a few reports of it starting this month. Supposedly the info came from a BMWAG and also a BMWNA source. Usually they wait on an OTA until it has been in the field for awhile so I would have thought they would wait until Sept/Oct to start.
