Don't know if anyone cares about this one, nothing that new. But for the ladies on the forum... She seems really nice and excited about her new X7!!

I'm surprised Jacob didn't have a freak-out with the technology like he did in the X5, other than that, overall a good review.

Thanks for that. I'm generally not into the frantic, ADD, Kardashian-thing, semi-vapid, although she did definitely know some things that she was talking about. I do appreciate that even non-BMW car people really like the X7.

[QUOTE=2020bmwx7;25593192]Comparison of X7 to GLS by The Straight Pipes guys on YouTube:
I can't believe more people like the GLS inside. The screens and the four vents in the middle are awful IMO. Also, the controls on the doors are strange looking. Not a great design inside or out IMO. Sometimes less is more. |

The guys in that video mention that it's mostly about the giant screen, which I suspect is right — it is pretty striking looking in person. But once you get past that, the appearance of the GLS interior as a whole is actually pretty boring/cheap looking, I think. I disagree with them on the appearance of the instrument cluster/gauges, though... they like the GLS, but I think the graphics look cartoonish. Overall, I definitely find the interior of the X7 to look much more sophisticated. (What, me biased?)

I'm always curious why they make our instrument cluster so boring. I almost went with the GLS over the X and the Aviator because of the instrument cluster.
Hey BMW (and Ford too) there's color in the cluster screen, why not use it? It's just way to much black for me.

I salute Mercedes for trying something new with interiors. I don't particularly like the GLS interior either, but I appreciate they are doing something different.
The X7 is gorgeous, but I do wish there was a little more differentiation between BMW models. I admit I don't know where car interiors should go next. If Tesla Model 3 is the answer, I'm not very excited about it. |

Surely this is the most detailed?!
Sorry if this was already posted but I don't think so. It's reviewed from the UK but almost entirely relevant internationally and in the UK. 78 minutes of solid rapid-fire detail, clearly delivered. YES 78 MINUTES!
Honestly I think it's an astounding quality if you don't mind the long duration. And the title is stupid (it's a far more serious review than that title implies). Hope it's helpful to some: Last edited by univ0298; 01-15-2020 at 10:23 PM.. Reason: added comment about the title |

New one from Canada (specifically the M50i — I sort of wonder if it's the same vehicle they used in that X7/GLS comparison from TheStraightPipes).

Motortrend:
2020 BMW X7 xDrive40i Arrival: One Year With the Biggest Bimmer https://www.motortrend.com/cars/bmw/...-term-arrival/ "Priced from $74,895, our car has a tasteful spec that almost allows the huge X7 to slip into the background and bumps up the sticker to a hefty $96,895. Painted Dark Graphite Metallic the sheer scale of the X7 shrinks just a bit. We didn't opt for the M Sport package, which would have deleted the chrome trim and upped the aggression. Instead we embraced its more cosseting role with the Executive package ($4,100), with a panoramic roof, glass controls, and heated and cooled cupholders. Cooled cupholders! Love it. However, we haven't gone completely soft—our xDrive40i also has the Dynamic Handling package ($3,850) and 22-inch wheels ($1,300). Anything less would be embarrassing, surely?"

Redline Reviews of the X7. These reviews are the reason why I ended up getting it. I see no issue with the bigger grill of the X7. I mean, the Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade have bigger more over the top grills. I test drove both the x5 and 2 x7's before I ordered my car. They both drove VERY similarly. I went with more cargo room and bigger capacity. Last edited by Greg-BimmerX7; 02-04-2021 at 11:14 AM.. |
