I never use the wireless charger that is in the car, but have a wireless charging phone mount in my ‘24 X7, have noticed my iPhone 15 pro max heat up quite a bit which I didn’t have with my 14 pro max, interesting. Definitely avoiding the car charger, thx.

People absolutely detest how the BMW wireless charger works for years now. BMW is either blind or purposely doesn’t care as it’s a known issue for years.

I just plug in under the armrest on trips. It’s faster, more secure, and works in a iPhone case as well as easier on your phones battery.

Same. I notice the wireless charger doesn’t even charge the phone either.

Apple is replacing under warranty, they’re shipping a brand new one and I’ll return the old one. It’s a hassle though. Can’t use Carkey and had to restore my phone and will have to restore the new one.

I’m done with the BMW wireless charger. Even with my 14 Pro, it would just overheat instantly. I’ll just go wired when I need juice.

I think both Apple and BMW are culpable here. No phone should die from wireless charging, but the BMW simply has the worst charger, instant overheat.

They’ll downclock it and put safeguards in.

Apple says it has found a bug in iOS 17 that “will be addressed in a software update.” The software update won’t reduce performance, the company said.
They cover that in press release too.

One can hope. My 14 Pro ran hot all the time as well. My 14 Pro battery life was less than stellar and the 15 Pro seems worse. I hope they sort it out, but regardless, the BMW charger instantly cooks both phones and is basically unusable.

I have the 17.1 beta and it’s actually running faster than before according to geekbench 2958 single core and 7402 multi core. (Which I didn’t expect). I believe they’ve sorted out how certain apps burn system resources vs a broad cpu underclocking

For all it's worth; My iPhone 11 Pro Max, when plugged into the port under the armrest gets a message that charging is on hold due to overheating after 30 minutes every time.

Is there really? How? Man, I hate the wireless charger!! I keep my phone upside down in there so that it won't overheat my phone.

That just gives you an option for a reminder that you left your phone in there. Which I used to have turned on, and yet I never got a reminder... I don't think there's any way to turn off the charging pad.

Get a PIXEL - Apple is having USB-C issues as well on new IPhone 15 - maybe if they stopped ripping their cusotmer soff with cheap as, lighting cables that break and realize USB-C was the way to go two years ago like Samsung and Google.

As if the two are easily interchangeable and there's no other advantage to going with Apple's ecosystem. Give them a few days, maybe a week. They'll figure this one out quickly and we'll all forget about it.

Yeah, get a Pixel and then you won't have working wireless charging. It can't fry your phone if it doesn't even work

(The new camera hump design on the Pixels since the 6th gen seems to make it pretty much impossible for the phone and wireless charger to sync up. It won't charge unless you hold it in in extremely specific positions. Used to work perfectly with my Pixel 5.)
