Is my wife nuts or is it me?
So my wife isn’t completely happy that I picked the X7 over her choice of the Lincoln Navigator. She said it is not big enough, I have an F150, so size isn’t really a problem. Is there anything the Navigator has over than size ? I drove both and felt the Navi was outdated and not as nice. Even the resale value was worse.

Navigator is more like a living room on wheels - yes - but at the expense of the driving experience and yes, the tech is a step or two behind the X7. Refinement of the X7 blows the Navigator away. When you appreciate those little things, plus the driving experience, you won't regret getting the X7. Did I mention we have 4 kids? Ages 6 through 12. The X7 has plenty of space for us.

Rest assured that the answer I'm giving you is coming from a very loyal Lincoln-owner:
NO!

I think the Navi is significantly bigger than the X7, isn't it?
X7 comes in at 202.8 inches....Navi is 210. That's basically the difference between, say, a X5 versus a X7 (I think X5 is 195 or so).

I purchased a 2021 Escalade Sport last April because this is what my wife wanted - it was a great family car and was nice to drive, but not fun to drive. It definitely is bigger than the X7, but with only two kids I did not see the need for a vehicle that large. I kept pushing my wife that we did not need that big of a car and that I wanted to trade for an X7... I finally got her to go test drive an X7 M with me and she agree that it had enough space and was actually a nicer car and smoother ride than the Escalade. Also turned into a good deal for me... I had the Escalade for almost a year, and put 13k miles on it, was able to trade it in for almost $10k more than I paid for it. My X7 M just went into production this week, so hopefully will be getting it end of the month.

Was it a black label? Even then, I wouldn't want to drive one myself, but can see the draw. Otherwise... No.

Navigator-bigger, X7-better. Most wives are confused and don't really know what they want in life, what can I say

Kind of side note, not trying to hijack, but related to the topic
I have seen this comparison shop a bunch on the forums and am curious. What is the driver behind comparing the X7 to the navigator (and Escalade, Yukon, wagoneer)? Is it just price point and lux status? Those vehicles are significantly larger, which we felt was the priority decision point and would need to go one way or the other. Either truck size or the "smaller" 3 rows but still near mid size. For us we ruled the truck based out due to the size. Maybe we are being naive about space needs we have 1 kid and are in planning stages for #2 (my wife is also a stage 5 over packer) We are looking at the x7 as a comp to the similarly sized and featured: Grand Cherokee L Audi Q7 MB GLS Aviator |

I personally think X7 has enough room if you have 4 ppl. Unless you always travel with a lot of things in the trunk. Grand Cherokee L is great but there are so many small things I don't like about Jeep, currently I own a 2015 GC. Like the chrome lines on the window not matching, crappy plastic parts and etc. Also it's 60k or 70k for a Jeep. I'd rather spend on BMW for the Luxury. The good part is it's manufactured here so it's cheap to keep up. If you really like Jeep try Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer. At least it's a new model so you get something new to explore. I don't like Audi brand in general. It's basically a VW for family vehicle. If you want Audi then you should try Atlas. Everything is from the same company just the logo different. MB GLS is BS. Dealers across the country is asking for premium over 10,20,30k for it. I'm not paying for that BS premium for a car unless it's something like 911 or special model. Plus you can't get GLS550 right now if you want more power. Aviator is smaller. You need to go Navigator if you want more space. Again, American brand means always annoying small things. Basically that's my reasons of choosing X7. |

Q7 is definitely smaller and overpriced for what it is, even before any mark ups. Aviator actually is more spacious on the inside than a Q7, I know it looks smaller from the outside lol. PS we definitely have enough room for 2 kids in the new GCL. I wouldn't want to have a larger car for sure, especially given the gas prices nowadays..

I came from a 2020 Audi SQ7. And a 2017 Audi Q7 before the SQ7. I'm very familiar with Audis. The technology in Audi is seriously lacking, other than the Infotainment. The X7, is better in every possible way, except for Audi's dual screen infotainment. If you do end up testing out a Q7, make sure to take notice of the third row seats, the sloping top of the rear, and the cabin noise. Also, make sure to look through the tint of the rear windows. There's a ton of complaints about how the rear window tints have a purple hue when looking from the inside to the outside. Audi claims it's not a defect, but it is, since not all 2020+ Q7s have this issue.
