The tabs you break off to fit the M Perf CF mirror caps are NOT USED in the retention of the regular-style OEM mirrors. The OEM-style mirror clips fit into different edges - NOT where you break off the tabs.
The tabbed areas are there to be able to fit theft-deterrent mirror caps, that fit with fasteners, like the M Perf CF mirrors. That's why you can re-fit the original clip-in style mirror caps after you've broken the alternate-fitment tabs to fit the fastener-attached M Perf CF mirror caps... It's really advised to unclip & partially-remove the mirror first, then remove the mirror cap. You can unclip the OEM-style mirror cap quite easily and safely from the inside. Especially if you'll be pulling the mirror anyway. |
