Yes, a few others have complained of this as well.
They also don't and haven't been saved on my other cars, so the main difference here is that the X7 seems to let them out when the car is turned off by default (also some subtle differences based on drive mode). I would imagine you could address the adjustments via coding, but you're likely not going to have them saved any time soon.

It has not saved bolsters going back to the E70; however if you press the memory button it will go back to the setting you saved even with the bolster but for some odd reason it will not go back after an engine start/stop.

Actually, mine doesn't go back either even when I press the memory button.

I waited until those morning to respond because I wanted to confirm before posting. When I started the vehicle this morning bolsters returned to 3/4 of the saved position. I press memory button and they returned to the saved position.
If you're in the mood for a little science project set your bolsters to tightest/narrowest setting with the engine on. Then save to memory with key in the vehicle. Confirm again that they are the most narrow setting by pressing the button again and if they no longer move in you're good. Shut off the vehicle. Exit. Lock. Wait about a minute or until all the clicking and humming ends. Unlock vehicle. Start the car and do not do anything just sit for a moment. The bolsters should return to 3/4 of the way... press memory button and they will go the narrowest setting. It has worked like this for me every since I acquired the vehicle and similarly on previous BMW.

I also had this problem! After resetting the car profil and setting everything new from the beginning it works again!

I believe the issue occurs when you drive off without the seat and steering wheel returning to original set position because the key then memorizes the last position. If you do the steps I laid out above or the way you performed them the seat, memory and profile will operate as designed.

it has worked like this for several different bmw i have owned. this is odd, it should work considering the steps you took. perhaps this is a software issue or a glitch which an "update" may resolve.

Do you own a BMW X7 or X5? If so, what model year and what software version are you on? This might help narrow down the problem, or perhaps new feature/change that was implemented by BMW. Automakers do whatever the hell they feel like regardless of what the end user wants. As the end user's of their products we're also the ones who have to "Alpha" test it and figure out what the hell they added or broke in their firmware/software updates. |

If your X7 doesn't do this I think there's an issue... they found a defected sensor on my car. I'm in a 2020 740i loaner at the moment and the bolster goes back every time.

Would someone please confirm or deny that the bolster on their X7 goes back into position whether automatically or through memory?
I was giving a 740i and the bolster came back, was told today that they tested another X7 and the bolster doesn't go back either so it's by design. It was so nice to not have to remember to adjust the bolster everytime I get in the car in the loaner. |

Confirmed again this morning. Did not have to engage any gear. Got in, buckled up and everything went to it's stored position. Wife's key does the same for her settings and to get the extra tightness she has to push the memory button for it to come all the way for the last 20-25% to the closest position possible.

It's not just the bolsters for me but the entire seat profile. Our X7's behavior is random. Sometimes the seats move correctly to the right position as soon as I open the door: sometimes it goes partway; and sometimes not at all. I'm too busy to try to diagnose and have given up and just accepting this as annoyance. I know it sounds ridiculous to have to accept this for the price we paid for the car...
