Annoying iDrive Control Screen Bug

Anyone see the following, very annoying, bug pop up on their iDrive Control screen. It randomly pops up about once per week. I've found no way to dismiss the damn thing. What's worse is that if I try to access the list of numbers by pushing up on the iDrive controller knob or touch the up arrow next to the number of calls on the far right the freaking thing starts dialing the number.

This is obviously pulling the info from my android phone's list of recent calls. I'm on 2019/7.59. The damn thing stays there until the car goes to sleep. Anyone know of a fix for this other than rebooting iDrive? You can't swipe left or right to get rid of it either.

Are you talking about the notification at the top offer the gesture control help window.

Need more info.

If the notification bar, when you touch that red arrow nothing happens?

Reboot iDrive, with car running, hold down power until screen goes black and it boots back up

Also, that 99 number isnt the number of missed calls, it's the number of unread notifications from iDrive

If you read my post I explain what happens when I try to access it via touch screen or control knob/joy stick. It dials the number shown in the pop up dialog box.

I've been able to access the list by tapping the far left physical edge of the control screen which brings up a list screen with descriptions. I can scroll through the list. They're all phone calls including incoming/outgoing/missed calls. No BMW notifications. But I can only view them or call them. No option to delete them.

I shouldn't have to reboot iDrive every week to get rid of that pop up screen. It's either a bug in the iDrive software version or my android phone. I may need to just delete the phone and then pair the phone again.

I didn't design the system, don't get upset with me.

I haven't seen this issue in mine. Sorry, can't help.

I wasn't getting upset with you. This is the problem with text communication. To many assumptions based on written words. However, that being said, you were asking questions that I had already answered in my original post. I was just reiterating what I had already posted. Plus, you made some assumptions about the notifications that weren't the case with my situation. I was just stating that fact in my response to you.

My original post was intended to solicit input from anyone that has seen the message or knew a solution for the problem. If nothing else, anyone who runs across the issue in the future can refer to this thread. You know the old saying..."Misery loves company!"

I'm guessing this is due to the number of notifications... I've never had more than maybe a dozen, and that was from when I first took delivery and had to dismiss all of the gesture suggestions (and since subsequently turned those off).

You should be able to get to the notifications screen through the car menu on iDrive without using the pop-up/shortcut. From here, I think you should be able to dismiss all of old the missed call/text notifications (utilizing the option button?), and then just deal with the new ones moving forward which should be much more manageable.

I only get notifications of missed calls or texts that happen when I'm within range of the car... so I am a bit intrigued by the number of missed calls pulling from your phone notifications. I'm wondering if it's either happening because you stay within bluetooth range while the car is unlocked (and iDrive on) while you're at home, or if there's something else going on there.

I'm guessing that iDrive re-syncs phone data about once a week. When it does this notification dialog box pops up. I've found no way to dismiss them even when I can get them in a list that can scroll through. There's no option to dismiss/delete them. Only change the order in which they are listed.

Sounds quite annoying.

I'd imagine a genius would have you unpair the car in bluetooth on android, forget the device in idrive, uninstall the bmw connected app from your phone, and start over fresh. I'd probably have to suggest the same, it seems there's some sort of issue with the reads/writes of the call and messaging over bluetooth that's not letting the car know those notifications were cleared.

Yeah, I've already unpaired my phone from the BMW and forgot the BMW from my phone, uninstalled the BMW app and started over again. We'll see if it fixes the issue or not in about a week.

I also cleared all the recent calls on my phone so if nothing else the message should only show the calls since I last cleared my phones "call list".

Yes. This was fixed at my first service. I believe the update the dealer did to 03/2020.31 fixed it.
