Before doing anything check your headlight alignment and beam pattern against a wall.
Mine was misaligned from factory. Yours may be the opposite of mine and may be the reason for your issue.

I get flashed many times mostly by cars and I flash them back, so they understand. I don't think the normal headlight setting of X7 is too blinding to others. It's just that people feel we're using high beams. I feel the same by newer pickups these days when driving M5. But if OP is sued then he can sue BMW for the same.

This is what mine look like. I couldn’t tell whether or not if it is too high or out of alignment. I have scheduled a dealer service for Tuesday. Let’s see what they find out. It’s funny the service advisor said over the phone that we made the light bright for your safety...

Yes, it’s mostly cars. The thing is while driving my last SUV of similar size on the same roads, this never happened. Obviously there is something wrong with the X7 headlights.

The headlights are definitely brighter compared to my last GLS with LED's resulting in higher visibility not only on the road but towards the sides as well. This helps me looking out for deers ready to jump onto the road.
As others suggested, have yours checked by dealer for anomalies.

I did notice the other night my folks X7 had some super bright headlights compared to my brothers X5. If anything the X7 didn’t cheap out on bright lights lol.

Let's just hope they make the Laser lights available in the 40i in 2021s and all will be solved.

I think OP case is the same thing as what I've had back in 2013 with my F15 X5 equipped with LED headlamp.
It was first in the US that a headlamp with all light turned on.
The first 2 years of ownership, I got flashed often.
And I always flashed back.

I wouldn't hate the car just because of it, I would just flash them back at a full high beam for a few seconds. So they'll know which is the low beam and high beam.

I don’t hate the car. Don’t get me wrong. I love my X7. I hate to have to do what you did while driving. That’s not the kind of experience I want driving a BMW. I don’t know how can anyone put up with it.

Our X7's lights aren't that bright. The LEDs on my JL Wrangler are brighter. I occasionally get flashed in both. I've gotten tired of flashing back.

I think it's more of a psychological thing with people freaking out when they see all 4 headlights illuminated at once. They automatically assume the high beams are on. I know when the new Super Duties came out some of the guys who had the factory halogens complained they were getting flashed for that same reason. I don't know if anyone on here has noticed, but those lights are about as bright as a flashlight being shined through a pitcher of beer. I get flashed (not the good kind) occasionally in the X-7 but rarely in my F-350 which sits much higher and has the factory LEDs.

If it is an issue with the four headlights design, I doubt the dealer can do much for me. If it is the light bulbs themselves or the alignment, there may be something they can do. Let’s see.

The auto-highbeam function, whatever it is called, reduces the flashes. I have it on all the time now.

Funny enough I got pulled over today because I flashed the car back and it was a cop. I’d love to know what your service advisor tells you because this is getting old.

Good reason to ignore people that flash you as I do now. Plus you never know if you'll flash a crazy person who will turn around and follow you.

Sorry to hear. If the issue isn’t resolved, incident like this will keep occurring. Will update next week.

I never flash, but I’m always on high alert while driving at night. It’s stressful. This is not the kind of driving experience I want.

i believe the fog light acts as the cornering light as it did on the f15/f16/f85/f86.
