The X4 really looks a lot better to me seeing it here, but not sure I'd pick one up. Also not sure I'd pick up an X7, but I'm excited to see the concepts, if not a bit skeptical for sure. Anyway, waiting for the the f16 X6. x2 |

The article says that with 800 new jobs, the total will be 8800 once the expansion is complete. As of March 2014, with the ramp up for the X4, the current total employees at Spartanburg is 8000.
So, it will be nice, and it will be reality also |

The X-drive branding and the X series have been an amazing sucsess for BMW.
Looks like this is just the beginning, love to see the top of the line X7.

We will see what the car should potentially look soon.
But the long wheelbase allows the outline to be sleeker and more dynamic at the rear , yet still accommodate 7 people. Think of a 7er but with a commanding driving position and SUV body. The X7 will share engines and technology and engineering processes with the all new BMW 7er including extensive Carbon Fibre use in the structure and architecture. After two cancellations this vehicle is now feasible due to the processes involved from architecture to lightweight materials and sharing of technology including BMWs upcoming Active Ride technology , laser-light headlights and eDrive. The X7 has also come about due to demand for luxury sedans diminishing in favour of large SUVs. The X7 will not be the end of the expansion for the luxury segment for BMW.

Seems the news all as expected, great news for local jobs, my E70 was THE best built car I've ever been in, rock solid. Pleased for the plant and also the new X7, will be interesting to see the design come through. Finally impressive that just an additional 800 staff (on top of 8,800?) manages to increase output by 50%.

On top of 8000... will end up as 8800 total. Astute observation re: the additional people vs % of additional output. I hadn't thought of that, and you're right, it is quite amazing.
