M340i 2020 - drivetrain error
Hi!
I was cruising in highway and got "drivetrain error" - then immediatelly car lost power and was put into neutral. I then shut it off and after a couple minutes restarted. Engine would start but only for a few second, make some weird noise and shut itself off. Driving is not possible, even though on dash it say I can. Anyone experienced something like this? Car has 18k miles. MPE installed. |

Have you looked under the hood yet? I haven’t had any M340’s come in with a drivetrain malfunction. That’s usually a mis-fire, battery/alternator issue, or a problem with the trans/transfer case. But, you would have noticed rough running and it would have been able to start back up if it were a mis-fire or trans issue.

Thats weird I randomly get drivetrain error codes as well, but in my case I pull over, turn the car off and on and drive like nothing happened.
In the process of the error popping up I can feel my transmission kick and loss of power. |

Update from dealership:
The error was associated with fuel tank. Car could not determine how much fuel is left in the tank. But they fixed the sensors and car is good to drive now. |
