Pricing on 2020 X7 M50i

Hello,

Was wondering what people are receiving as far as discounts on a 2020 X7 M50i. Trying not to get blind sighted at the dealership.

Any help would be appreciated.

We just brought home our 2020, which was a custom order that we place in mid November. I think we got a very good price and we also locked in the discounts for December for BMW financing and BMW loyalty (we also have an M5). I don't want to go into the complete details because the dealer initially sold us a 2019 from the lot but it had too many problems before we even took it home, and they ended up taking care of us to make things right, selling us a custom ordered 2020 with a lot of options for about the same price (think end of year clearance pricing). Regardless, I think it's possible to get the M50i X7 with a healthy number of options, out the door, in the 105-110k range. Our situation was unique and we were out the door for less than that, but again, our situation was unique and the dealer went to extraordinary lengths to keep our business.

One thing that the dealer mentioned to us is the X7 tends to sit on the lot for up to 90 days, so it sounds like they don't see a lot of these and given the price is pretty high, it puts it into the lower volume category. I would think that with KBB research and some serious negotiation, you should be able to get a very good price at least 10% less than the MSRP then factor in the factory specials for financing and loyaly or military etc... don't forget $1000 back from BMWCCA if you are a member or sign up for the 3 year membership.

I am in NY and spoke with a number of NY and NJ dealers in December about an X7 M50. I generally found most of them to offer ~5-6% off MSRP up front. In Bayside, there were too well loaded cars on the lot that were offered at 10% off MSRP ($120K and $109K). They may still be there so check them out online. Two leasing companies offered 10% off MSRP. I ordered from an out of state dealer with the pick up in the performance center in SC and got 11% off + incentives. December dealers may have been better than now because of the year end targets.

When I was searching the various local BMW dealer websites, I saw that many of them had many more X7s than any other BMW X. I think X7s sell well but because there are so many of them on the lot, some of them tend to stay there for a long time.

Just as a reminder:

Unless you already signed up for the 3-year membership in 2019 or have been a member with BMWCCA for 6 months, the option to qualify immediately for the $1,000 discount by signing up for 3-years disappeared by 01/01/2020.

I'm in the Boston Metro area and just started shopping for an M50i. Thus far, I have been offered only 5% on an order, plus incentives. They were willing to discount further on their inventory. 9% is my reserve. We'll see.

Isn't 9% discount ~ invoice pricing?

From what I'm hearing it sounds like pricing is all over the map. One person can 10% another 6% I was offered 8% + $4250 in incetives off one with an MSRP $111,000

Don't know if I should pass on this and try to push them harder but they seem to feel they were giving me the most they had to offer??

On an apples to apples basis you are getting an 11.8% discount with incentives ($97,870/111,000). It sounds like a good deal to me. My deal was close to 12.9% off with incentives ($105,440/$121,000) but it was done in December and may be difficult to replicate.

Edit - if you are leasing make sure you are getting base MFs.

This isn't relevant for most of you here as I am based in Canada. But for fellow Canadians on the forum, most I was able to get is 2.5% off of MSRP for fully loaded, custom order M50i. There are also no incentives here except for $2K BMW loyalty discount. My production isn't until post April 2020 as I selected full leather Tartufo interior which won't be available until April.

I would guess that in general you should not aim for below invoice (more than 9% off before incentives) unless the dealer has other reasons to make the deal, such as hitting other benchmarks, moving an old car off the lot, etc.

Well, I Custom Ordered, a fully loaded M50i in Toronto with no incentives but a 7% Discount. My dealership got me a Production slot really quick and my car just arrived in the city (within 6 weeks). Picking it up within the next week. Good Luck to you.

That sounds fantastic, I'll pm you. I was only offered 1% off 2020 custom order in other places. Production slot isn't an issue, but as others mentioned BMW not offering tartufo interiors at the moment until production change over in April.

There are more factors than invoice price, holdbacks, manufacturer incentives to dealers. Invoice pricing is old standard/tactic for negotiations. You should refer the lease deals thread in X7 forum.
I got 10% discount on places order for X7 M50i excluding incentives.

I think discounts on ordered vehicles seem to vary a lot by location and what I would guess is the overhead of operating a dealership in a higher cost environment like NYC or LA.

For example, FL dealers offering 10% off but NYC maxing out at about 8%. I understand the economics, so I am not really willing to go hours away to get a vehicle to save $20-40 a month.

Was able to get a loaded M50i for 12% off plus another $4750 in rebates.

Was talked into two options at the finance table for items I can still cancel including an extended maintenance to 5 year/75k ($3950) which covers brakes at a minimum and protection for interior and exterior ($750) which will cover any damage to either (not including door dings).

Anyone have any insight as to whether these extended services are worth it? Seems like a good deal as brake parts alone are $600 for rear and $1200 for front axle plus labor.

Extended maintenance for 5 yrs at that price may be worth it, if you're buying instead of leasing. You may end up replacing brakes twice before 75K miles based on your driving habits, of course if you're planning to keep it for that long. Please check what else is covered after 50K original factory warranty expires.
There's a $700 ultimate plan for 3 yr/36k which covers brakes and wipers. Usually X7 size SUV's tend to eat brakes faster compared to other models.

Mind sharing dealer? Was this before the first of the year? I believe the amount of lease support dropped post Jan 3rd.

With respect to the prepaid maintenance likely does not pay off but you have to check the service schedule. 75i in the new BMW world is 5 oil changes, air / cabin filters, and brakes as you noted. The will get some margin on that plus time value of money. Not a terrible deal but I would pass.

Placed order here in Madison WI for 2020 X7 M50i loaded. List is $116,000+. They say "invoice" is $108,000 and sold it for that after negotiation. So about a 8% discount off MSRP.

In the Boston metro area I have been offered as little 5% and as much as 9% off list. 2 have offered 6% and all have asked if I would consider a 40i.
