X7 Rear Cargo Rubber Mat

Greetings,

Has anyone purchased the rear cargo mat from BMW?

Part #: 51472459921
BMW X7 Fitted Luggage Compartment Mat

Question: BMW's picture online makes it look as though the mat only covers from behind the 3rd row seats. Does the part in fact cover the entire cargo floor in the X7?

Many Thanks,

Buffalo

Nope. Just behind third row seats.

Good question if this OEM actually only covers the space behind the 3rd row.

Since I couldn't answer this question, either, I'm planning on getting the weathertech where I know for sure it will cover the space behind the second row.

I have it, it only covers behind the 3rd row seats. I ended up covering the back in canvas so I don't need mine anymore. I would sell it to you if you want to save a few bucks.

On a related topic, has anyone purchased the WeatherTech 3 piece mats for the front and 2nd/3rd row? Happy? I have WT's for my other car and are really happy with their quality and coverage.

I have purchased the WT floor mats.

I think the OEMs look better but these ones feel well made and fit very well - I have them for all three rows and trunk.

Thanks for the feedback! I like the BMW mats, but their coverage doesn't look as good as the WT from photos I've seen.

I have the WT for trunk area behind 2nd row. I have the BMW OEM liners for 1st and 2nd rows. I like this combo. The WT does cover the hump area in the 2nd row while the BMW liners do not. Not an issue for me as no one sits in the middle of the bench seat.

Good to know thanks! I've got three kids that mostly sit in the second row, so the WT might be the better option.

With 3 kids, I agree with the WT being the better option.

I bought all-weather BMW genuine rubber mats for my X7 for the front and second rows from Amazon for lesser price compared to BMW site; but it was couple of months ago. See attached

That looks like canvasback which is what I had in my previous GLS and works great. I ordered the BMW cargo area mat and was disappointed and sent it back. I’m going to get the canvasback as well.

A couple people have asked, so here's my receipt as the ordering is a little confusing.

I too have the Canvas Back for the cargo area - can't say enough good things about it. And it's waterproof just like the rubber ones, but because of it's nature, it can adapt to the seats being in various configurations, where with a full coverage rubber mat, you would need to remove it to put up the 3rd row, etc. Had it in my F15 X5 with Weather Tech Rubber floor mats for 1st & 2nd rows. WT is great product as well.

This time around I have the BMW OEM floor mats for 1st, 2nd & 3rd rows and I'm very happy with them. Good coverage and good quality, just like WT. WT is a great product too.

@Cabby these look nice! Thanks for sharing. Did you have to install adhesive velcro strips to your X7 carpet? I saw this on their website:

"Regular Velcro hook does not grab the carpet in the car. We send out self-adhesive loop Velcro to act as good carpeting. When you apply the loop Velcro, really press firmly into the carpeting of your car so it has a nice stick (it won't hurt the carpet if you pull it up)."

Yes, you lay out the adhesive and stick everything on. I will say some of those pieces didnt hold well and I ended up buying additional pieces to ensure they weren't going anywhere.

For a normal person without young children climbing all over the place and kicking the chairs and generally destroying everything they touch, you would likely be OK with the supplied adhesive tape.
