Very odd that Apple Pay still pops up when you or your wife place your iPhones on the charger base. That issue hasn't occurred once since my wife and I updated to iOS 12.2. You should report this to your BMW Genius so they can report it up the chain of command. I called my local Genius to report a few intermittent re-connect issues with CarPlay. He said he will be passing that issue onto the proper group at BMW.

Apple is aware of the issue. BMW has communicated it to them. The outliers, at this point, are the people that don’t have this issue

Supposedly, the Apple Pay issue was fixed a few months ago for G05 owners. I don't know why the X7 isn't benefiting from all the issues already resolved in the G05.

As I posted above, iOS 12.2 fix this issue for me and my wife. I find it odd that it's not working for some who also upgraded to 12.2.

I upgraded to iOS 12.2 and was having a number of CarPlay issues. Principally no media/song information was being transferred so while I could hear the music, I wasn’t seeing any information in either of the digital screens and therefore couldn’t change tracks using any of the iDrive or steering controls.

I tied a hard reset of iDrive by pushing the power button for 20 seconds and that seemed to resolve this issue. I would also suggest making sure the downloaded BMW apps are up to date using the options button on the apps home screen (not to be confused with the general iDrive system update).

From what I can tell, that’s misinformation that it was resolved in G05 by iOS 12.2. Half that silly thread is of people saying it still doesn’t work, while for two or three it does

Ah, thanks. I had understood from the G05 discussion, that it was fixed from a vehicle software update, not iOS. Sounds like it's still a pending issue.

FWIW, I've never gotten an Apple Pay screen, anytime I've used the G05 or G07 chargers. This is likely because I don't use a phone lock passcode, which is required for Apple Pay.

Not a perfect solution for others, I realize, as it means your phone isn't pass-locked. But it prevents the Apple Pay screen.

Hadn’t thought of that lock screen attempt at a workaround.

As for when it gets addressed for all, there’s what? 15-25k x5s on the road? What’s apple’s installed iOS user base? 1.5 billion or so? No idea, just guessing. BMW is one of many companies asking Apple to address this or that. Guessing it’s gonna take more time to work its way through the queue.

Any other X7 owners with iPhones at iOS 12.2 still getting the Apple Pay pop up when you put your iPhone on the charger? As I mentioned previously, after downloading 12.2 I no longer get the pop up and neither does my wife. The iOS update Is the only thing that changed and that issue is gone.

I heard some of X7 users have 11/2018.68 iDrive 7 version. I have been trying to update my 11/2018.57 version to .68 Over the Air but it keeps saying searching for the updates and then the screen fades out.

I thought the OTA update worked for some on the X7s. Is that true or should I take it to the dealer and get it updated?!

In the users manual, I see that X7 is capable of upgrading the software through the BMW App as well. But you need to first download the update on the App (phone) then connect the phone to the car using Bluetooth or WiFi to transfer the update to the iDrive.

When are we going to get that functionality? The App has a section that says "Remote Software Upgrade" but seems like they have disabled that feature on the app?!

maybe it's been resolved for x7 but not x5. seems to be more people not having the problem in x7 than x5.

either way, a true fix works for all. so hopefully that's forthcoming if not in production already.

I don't see how it could be be related to .68 as I'm still at .55 and Apple Pay no longer pops up for me or my wife after applying the iOS 12.2 software update. I also couldn't listen to incoming text messages prior to the iOS update and now Messages is working correctly.

At least in my case both issues were resolved by the iOS update and not an internal software update from BMW. Not to imply a software update from BMW wouldn't resolve some remaining connection issues. I find it interesting that you were able to download .68 while my iDrive reports no new updates found. I reported that to my local BMW Genius.
