Luckily for you and I sounds like most of the people in our lives fit that description, so no problems here, either

I now find the wireless charging pad location a trivial annoyance. If you have drinks in the cup holders (I know, blasphemous), it can be a challenge to reach for the phone since it’s blocked.

Every vehicle has its plus delta’s but overall we’re loving the X7. The Hello BMW thing isn’t too bad. We’ve used it a few times now when needing to quickly find an address or directions.

I find that "quirky" as well, that drinks can block/impede access to the phone. But also, that liquids are literally 1-2 inches away from phone electronics, I think is just inviting an accidental spill that goes bad.

That being said, I LOVE the idea of cooled cupholders, keeping my can of Diet Coke at least a little cool as I drive. People have reported the heating/cooling function as being useful, even if it's not overwheliming. Seems silly, but they're actually a "must have" for me.

Has anybody else been called by a BMW corporate rep? I received an email last week saying they’d be giving me a call to hear my feedback. Today, someone called and truly wanted to hear my feedback — what are my favorite things about the car and what do they need to work on. He talked to me for over 30 minutes. On some issues, I pointed out things and said “this hasn’t happened to me personally, but some of my friends on Bimmerpost....” 😂 He gave me his phone number to call back when I thought of more questions. It’s nice to have a company care about what their drivers thing. Suffice it to say that after purchasing six new Mercedes over the years, nobody from MBUSA ever called to check in.

That’s s great way to do post mortem product launch. Poll the actual user base with time on their vehicles. They get a lot more feedback than a survey you fill out online.

Was disappointed to learn later that X7 doesn’t have this. Oh well, I guess I just have to forgo grocery shopping!
The tailgate won’t open when the towing hitch is out. Once the hitch is hidden the swinging foot both opens and closed the tailgate. Tested on m50d.

Yea, seems to be some kind of a restriction on US market. My SA just confirmed I can have that option with just any engine available as well.

Yes. Seat wasn’t locked in position when you moved it. Just reset the seat

This has happened to me. I just "reset" the seat by making sure the seat back was fully locked in place.

There also seems to be a hardware or software glitch with those seats and or sensors based on another thread. If you can’t get the seat to clear the error by lifting the top seat pull lever and having the seat reset it’s motion, you may need a service appt.

Not sure if I should start a new thread but..

I have the brightness up all the way on both displays. Anyone else's fairly dim around dawn? I think the car thinks it's still dark outside and therefore keeps it dim. I go and get coffee around 6:30am sometimes and its a bit hard to see, because it is light out. Is that something you can change with a hack?

have you checked the physical dial near the headlight controls to the left of the steering wheel? make sure that is rolled to the max position

I’m embarrassed to say I have never seen that knob until I read your reply! 🤦🏻*♀️ Thanks. My display brightness has been fine, but it’s nice to know it can be adjusted.

@ppagiga

I thought it was all the way up but my husband must have turned it down.

Although I did turn it up it didn't seem to be making the displays brighter just the interior lights. Maybe I'll have to try tonight and see after it gets a bit darker again.

So it does change the displays but only when it thinks it's night. (did it in my garage) So I was trying to change it during the day and it doesn't do anything. I do think initially it was turned down a bit. So hopefully that helps.

This may help also. In idrive under Car settings—interior lighting uncheck “dim at night” or something to that effect. The early morning hours where your headlights are on may cause the interior to be dimmed if this box is checked. Not sure about this but worth a try

The displays do appear a bit dim at times to me as well but I found that if I select Sport Mode the cockpit display is noticeably brighter. Not an ideal solution if you prefer Comfort Mode but thought I should mention it.
