Winter tires installed on original 22' wheels. This is what BMW recommended, then installed for me. It drops the tires from 275/40/22 to 275/35/22 in the front, and 315/35/22 to 315/30/22 in the back.

If you shop those new sizes on tire rack they will come up.

Here's the back tires.

Not bad. Can you take a close up?

I'm on the fence about pulling tires on/off wheels frequently.

Here are a few more shots. First pic is the rear tire, second and third are the front.

I debated getting new wheels as well. Almost went with the 21's before they found these for me. It's $100 to switch them out, or $200 per year. Since the other wheels were over $2,000, this seemed like a better way to go - and I get to keep my 22's on.

Also I did the powder coated wheels to match my black sapphire with extended shadowline. It was a pity since the cerium grey wheels were so nice looking, but I just felt like my all black X7 needed black wheels.

They look good, very sharp for winters. Is that Carbon Black? I have the same color.

Smack some tire shine on those!! Nice look, you're changing my mind!

I wonder if I could install these and keep them on during the summer as well.

It's an M50i, Black Sapphire with Extended Shadowline. Tartufo interior. I had the 22" rims powder coated to match the shadowline trim. Really happy with how it turned out!

Haha yes, tire shine will be done today.

Went the cheaper route with 20's. Touren TR75 (9" wide,38 offset) on Blizzak DM-V2 285/50R20. Fits over the MSport brakes well.

I just ordered a set from Discount Tire with the 20s and Blizzak 285/50R20s mentioned above. Of note, some of the Drag brand models of wheels they sell have a removable center cap that can be replaced with an older BMW one.

Will post pics next week. I ordered these:

Jeff/Pipe- Those both look great. Was ordering 21" this week, but reconsidering now.

Jeff- how long did the powder coat process take? I'm being told 4-5 days. Seems long.

I went with 19" wheels/tires. 275/55-19 blizzacks. The wheels fit over the brakes just fine. Most of you guys wont like the look, because I don't either. Lol. But, we live in the mountains and travel to rough areas, so the extra sidewall won't hurt. Big change from my 22's though. Will post some pics when I get them all mounted, I only test fitted one of them.

I am puzzled why they dropped the height? Typically on winters you want to go the other direction, can you explain?

The size does not exist in any snow tire. They stretch it to make it work.

You are now chatting with Hunter.
Hunter at TireTrack 15:20, Nov 9:
Hi, how can I help you today?

Me at 15:21, Nov 9:
Hi, would the Pirelli Scorpion Winter 22" work for my x7?

Hunter at TireTrack at 15:22, Nov 9:
what size do you have now?

Me at 15:24, Nov 9:
275/40/22 in the front and 315/35/22 in the rear

Hunter at TireTrack at 15:26, Nov 9:
it is offered in the 275/40 but not the 315

Hunter at TireTrack at 15:27, Nov 9:
you can use the 275 all around so long as the rear wheel width is 10.5 or 11" wide

Hunter at TireTrack at 15:27, Nov 9:
I do not have that info. maybe BMW can tell you if you do not know as well

Me at 15:28, Nov 9:
they do not come in 315/30/22?

Hunter at TireTrack at 15:29, Nov 9:
yes but that is an inch shorter and cannot be used

Me at 15:29, Nov 9:
ok

Me at 15:30, Nov 9:
I will check with BMW

Me at 15:30, Nov 9:
thank you

Hunter at TireTrack at 15:30, Nov 9:
You're welcome, have a great day.

^I wouldn’t bet the farm on that conversation. There’s a grey area when it comes to tires and answers vary depending on who you talk to.

Correct. I'm only sharing another variation. I also have an email into my dealer to get another.

So the car seats lower, wheels have smaller diameter, and there is less air to cushion winter impacts... just the opposite to what proper winters would need. I very happy with my 21" winters then

To all, I think it is fair to say that you can use any product you like any way you can stretch it with your own responsibility, however I would bet that if something happen and insurance need to pay $100k+ they will for sure check tire/wheel fit and if those two do not match as designed I would guess that they can decide not to pay, and even if you take them to court you would most likely lose.

The question is if this was a dealer or BMW itself... you know dealer just sales the car and is servicing I would doubt BMW covers dealer mistakes. The bottom line is if tires are installed on different wheel then designed for they never in optimal condition
