Wow that's hideous. Who in their right mind would purchase such a truck? This is coming from someone located in Minnesota where GMC is marketed as luxury.

This is for regions like AU/NZ where UTE's are taxed and registered differently than SUV/SAV. Many people from that area will purchase a vehicle then convert it to a UTE in order to skirt this taxation/registration.

Those tail lights are awful.

In all honesty, to me it looks like a half ass attempt that appears to have taken designers half a day of photoshop work and send off to production before getting some warm German Beer.

Not a fan at all.

I'm an off road guy and guys load proper dirt bikes in a truck but never adventure bikes. it's too difficult for even 2 men to push one up. But yea... the bed is short. Would have to be for a performance street truck I would think.
Yup. The purpose of a adv bike is to get to the destination and ride through it instead of trucking it. But I would think my yz250f will fit in this bed. Just not the larger bikes if someone wants to take their track bike to the race track. Short bed the bike sits on the gate but this bed the rear tire is going beyond the gate so it's a no go

It's been tried several times before, by American truck brands no less, with major failure.
Key point now could be that a large majority of luxury car owners would never buy an American car or truck.

I know tons of people who would spend 90k+ on a Tesla or European car but wouldn't even consider spending 40k on a truck, especially if it's American.
Europe maybe. And California because they thoroughly dislike America and everything American. But the rest of the US? Good luck.

I own an X5M and a Ford Superduty. By the way, a Limited trim Superduty typically costs more than a M car, just FYI.
You lumped entire California as US haters, goes against your screen name, just saying.

Toy Truck. Will not work in my opinion. It does not look rough and tough that a truck has to be. I treat trucks roughly....but here I have to be kind on it.

I was about to mention this. In Australia, our current top 3 selling new vehicles are 4-door Utes due to tax dodgers - Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger & Mitsubishi Triton. It's a tax loophole that needs to be closed.

If BMW wanted in on the action, they could revive Baur & get them to build this for them as a Baur Pickup to save face? That way it's technically not an official BMW model.

It's a pity GM never went ahead with selling the Commodore ute in the US as a revived Chevy El Camino. Could have done pretty well - at the end of its run it could be ordered with either a 6.2L LS3 or supercharged LSA engine & can fit a couple of dirt bikes in the back.

That M5 was built by Southern Road & Custom for Australian pro golfer Stuart Appleby - not BMW. They did it properly by lengthening the M5's wheelbase by 125mm (roughly 5 inches) to give the ute the right proportions & a tray with some length.

An article showing some build photos is here:

I hope you guys aren't taking BMW's X7 truck one-off seriously... though a G06 truck concept would fix its tragic backend.

Pseudo luxury pick up trucks have been market failures in the past. Enter the 2002 Lincoln Blackwood which was a total and complete flop.. The BMW rendition has a strong "Blackwood" vibe...

My thoughts exactly. The only thing they are demonstrating here is how useless that bed is. They should have put a mini bike in the back if they wanted to pretend you could actually haul anything with it. The only justification for owning a truck is the utility aspect. Anything less than a full bed is a total waste for me.

It's a very different market now vs 2002 though.

Large sedans were still selling well back then, seems now people just can't get enough SUVs - there might be a niche there to fill.

Not bad looking from the sides. This would sell here in the States. The real reason I like it is because it has GS in the back!

I still take an X4M with a Trailer!

Center stand is ok. Lots of GS owners ship their bikes across oceans in crates on the Center stand
