X7 with 3 car seats

Looking for feedback from X7 owners with 3 kids in car seats. How is the car working out for you? Pros/cons? Which 2nd row configuration do you have?

Thanks!

I have 4 kids, 2 in booster seats. I got the 6 seater. We upgraded from a Toyota Sienna. I love it! The only downside for us is barely any trunk space compared to a minivan. Not going to lie, the kids miss the minivan but the tech and luxury of the X7 is incomparable.

I also have four kids but I use the Multimac seat. It means you cannot use the third row but you have the bigger boot space.

I had Q7 and had 3 seats on the bench and all fit, X7 is a bit wider so I assume you should be able to fit 3 car seats. I have two now and transfer goes to Third row

That multimac is a sweet option. Honestly, never heard of it till now and wish I had. That would have saved me major $ in car seats.

I have three kids. 7,3,1. We have two britax marathon on the middle bench seat, along with a booster chair. Width is a little tighter than my wife's LR4(moving to Range now) and my previous Range Rover, but rear seat room is greater. Plenty of room to put toy/food/diaper bags below their feet. Only issue is, I need two narrower seats than the britax to be able to use the individual seat to get to third row. My booster is on that seat, but the seat will not fold forward with the width of the britax in the middle seat. Also, the space in the rear is much greater than my previous Rover and F15 X5. This is one of the best cars I have found for hauling my family of 5 that still gives you a sporty drive, while being able to take extended weekend trips. I really wanted to wait for the RS6 Avant, but drove the M50i and knew it was what I needed.

Does anyone know if there is safety protection for the motorized second row? If someone accidentally hits the button in the back compartment or on the side of the seats to trigger the third row, does the car know there are little ones in car seats and not move the second row on a collision course with the first row? I have nightmares about this.

That is an impressive setup, looks OEM! Looks like your kids are ready for a few laps at the race track (and the X7 would handle speed at the track better than most cars on the road today.... ). My kids are long out of car seats (they are 12 and 17), but I wish I had this option (or knew about it) when they were in car seats back in the day....

The Multimac looks like an incredible product but based on my review it doesn’t appear to be approved and available in the US market. Thanks for all the other feedback so far!

The standards are higher where it is approved according to some. In addition has support bars and tethers etc. Amazing product.

I'm having issues with car seats installed. Just picked up new X7 Friday. Love the car. But I have 2 car seats installed - both 5 point harness. One installed with lap belt and the other installed by latch. The latch one is on the single seat of the second row bench. I was thrilled by the above video, knowing I could still access the third row with a car seat installed. However, the latch installed car seat will not move and cannot access third row. Anyone have any solutions? or recommendations? Thanks!

Is the seat trying to move or not doing anything? Check that the child lock button on the drivers door (the one for the windows) is not on as I think that might also disable the seat controls in the back. If it is that the seat is trying to move but can't because of the child seat then maybe try changing it with the seatbelt attached one as that might be a bit more flexible.

No, I found out that the window lock also controlled the seats too - earlier lol. The seat starts to move and the front passenger seat slides forward. But after about 3-5 seconds, it stops and goes back. I am wondering if i have the latch too tight. I am a stickler on getting the car seats installed as tightly as I can. The car seat on the other side that is installed via lap belt was doing the same and I thought it was because of having the seatbelt being used - but not locked.

Does your Isofix seat have a front leg that goes to the floor? If it does that will top it lifting. But you can use a tether strap to the back of the chair instead of the leg.

No - I have it tethered to the back of the seat. I'm thinking i just have it too tight which I prefer but may need to look into adjusting some.

This is odd.
I have three car seats in the second row bench and the seats have no issue moving and allowing access to the third row. Both isofix and lap belt are used. I'm wondering if the car seat is hitting something or obstructing the machinisme movement in some way.
