@Heimdall Do you use the shoulder belt on the sides? That has been my issue. If you use the shoulder belt the seat moves forward a couple inches and then retreats back.

I have yet to be able to make them work. And ended up getting a "Right rear seat unlocked" warning. Now dealership is picking up my car tomorrow to address that issue
kdesign7, that is the problem with one of my car seats. It's installed using the shoulder/lap belt. It's too tight and will not allow the second row bench to move forward. |

Yeah. I always thought using the shoulder belt was the safest so that's why we use it and not latch. But we only have 1 kid. So it's easy for us to get into the third row on the opposite side.

No I use the rigid/European isofix on the sides and the shoulder belt in the center. And truth to be told. It's one of the main reasons we got an X7 and not something else.

It will fit no problem but you may find that the rear facing stops the outside seat from folding up to allow access to the third row. Although if you put the rear facing on the outside seat and the two non latch boosters in the middle and other outside seat you will have no issues. Plus having the rear facing on outside makes getting baby in and out so much easier. The middle is a long stretch in.

How do you get the 2 year old buckled in the 3rd row?

I just got back from the dealer where I attempted to fit my Nuna Pipa infant seat along with our two Nuna Rava convertible seats in the 2nd row bench of the X7. To my surprise, the seats didn’t come close to fitting. The culprit appears to be the location of the Isofix anchors on the outboard seats. These anchors are offset too far to the inside of the bench which doesn’t leave sufficient room for fitting the other two car seats on the bench. This is a real bummer because our 2019 Q7 fits these 3 car seats just fine on the 2nd row bench. If we want a bigger car than our Q7, it looks like I’m stuck looking at a Yukon or Escalade.

You have to use a pillow insert with some child car seats to fill the gap between the back of the car seat and the child car seat. There's about 2" gap there due to the lack of inclining of the back of the car seat. Basically you can't achieve 90 degrees L shape car seat. It's more like ~120

But keep in mind you loose accessibility to the 3rd row as the seats won't move with seatbelts engaged.

Here are two photos to help visualize. The infant seat base can only attach with Isofix anchors. As you can see, these anchors are set in about 6 inches from the edge of the seat. The remaining room left on the bench is insufficient for the two convertible seats, which you can see end up hanging pretty far off the other edge of the other side of the bench.

That being said, and I have said it before, my personal opinion is that if you have three kids including one in an infant seat you should lease a minivan for three years and then come back and get the big truck. My youngest just turned three and we just turned in our Sienna. I think there are a lot of things I will miss about the Sienna when the X7 comes. Three kids, two grandparents, two strollers and a full Costco trip just can't be done in anything but a minivan.

Do you guys put anything on the seat prior to the install of the car seats? I have Peg Pergos so the bottoms are quite smooth but just wondering if you guys use anything extra...towels, mats etc. Thanks!
