July production means that those vehicles will be built with iDrive 8.5

2024 X7 - April-June build: coming with MGU4+ (MGU21A) good for OTA to ID 8.5 linux and perfermence will be great, but can not support ID 9 since using Intel CPU.

First it was people will need MGU21A to get iDrive 8.5, then it was they will need MGU22. Then once people starting showing they had MGU22 by looking at what their vehicles are telling them, now what the vehicle has listed is wrong. Then some say well no cars will get an OTA if it does not come with 8.5. I would suggest everyone just wait and see, we will know in a few months anyway because clearly the story keeps evolving and no one knows but BMW.

2024 X5 and up, iX, 7 series, and I think XM will get OTA update to 8.5. M models will not get full 8.5 though.

MGU22 is a requirement to get the OTA update. Roll out starts next month by VIN, so it could be some time before your particular vehicle sees it.

I got rid of my X7, and just ordered a X5 50e, so hopefully I will see it when I get the vehicle. But yes, it could could take awhile for others to get the OTA. But we should know what vehicles are getting it when others start posting they received the update.

Hey y’all. Found a pretty good video of what 8.5/9 is going to look like.

Let me know your thoughts. Mind you it’s in German.
