Change Map Style (Colours, background etc)

Is there any way to change the actual colour scheme on the maps in the 2008 series navigation system.
I find that the default choice of colours makes the map hard to read.
My last car (G35) had two settings, one for daytime and one for night.
I would like to be able to at least change the map display to use a lighter background colour. Is this possible?

My '07 Audi RS4 has the day/night display setting for nav too but as far as I know BMW doesn't have anything like that.
