Will do. Didn't have enough daylight to put it on yesterday. I dropped off my car at my detailer until Saturday so look for a post from me sometime this weekend.

Put the Turner bar on today. Instructions lists "Wiechers Sport" as the manufacturer. The install is really easy. The bar pretty much just drops right in. Make sure you have a 7mm Allen wrench/socket, 17mm wrench, 16mm wrench/socket for the tower bolts.

I took the extra step of trimming the weatherstripping on the driver's side tower so it sits flat, but it isn't necessary. Scissors easily cut the weatherstripping.

I also flipped the wire harnesses on both towers so they sit below their respective retaining clips. Again, this probably isn't required, but I want to avoid any possible chafing.

The bar does sit very close to the engine cover... Maybe 2 microfiber towel-thickness away? There is also a left/right side of the bar. Proper orientation will shadow the asymmetric engine cover.

Thanks for the notes and pictures man, I really appreciate it! Definitely getting one of these. Is there a difference in "tightness" ?

I have a Mechanic one installed, and love it. Can definitely notice that the ride is tighter, especially on ramps and driveways. Looks really clean IMO too

The bar definitely adds torsional stiffness. At slow speed you can easily confirm the improvement when turning up a ramp. High speed turns have a notable improvement in stability. I would go so far to say my car feels a bit different on turn in too. I am completely happy... Now I want something for the rear!

So you installed this yourself Glenn? If so, congrats.
From the looks of it, you could actually pre-load with that bar. I can't see me adding this as it would make removing the engine cover quite the task. Nice place to rest your arm / hand while working under the hood though. No rubbing on the underside of the hood either? |
