Resetting the service interval light yourself, CPO implications??

I have my service light on right now. The dealer says it is only for a general car inspection which they want almost $200 for. I want to reset the service light myself using a DYI guide from this site but I am worried it will void my CPO warranty. Will the dealer even know if I do it? Or will my key just report that it was done without them being able to tell who did it (ie they think another dealer did the service).

Thanks!

I just reset my light after I changed my first oil (CPO as well), when I went to get my oil and oil filter at the dealer, a tech told me I couldn't reset the light..just needs to bring it up there.

Yea ok..they can't say anything to you if you change your own oil, just make sure to use BMW products.

No, CPO warranty does not cover any service interval work, oil changes, labour etc. Only for defective items under their limited coverage list.
