Why do so few BMW employees drive BMWs??

At my 'ship there a about 2 owners, the way I can tell...the parking lot is full of junkers. Do they pretty much all make that little money, or is it just a job??

At my local BMW dealer, the sales reps that meet their sales quote get a demo. All the managers drive demos. Most of the Techs drive BMWs, they are older though, but still nevertheless a BMW.

Hey Stewbert... I think it's a combination. I'm sure that many of the employees at the dealership earn a modest wage (or, let's face it - we'd all work there). I also think for many of them it's just a job. However my CA (Stephanie) that sold me both the E90 and E91 drives a '05 Alpine White 325xi MT. She rocks! :rocks:

That's how I thought it "should" be.

a BMW is still an expensive car

I doubt that a dealership is a great place to work (payscale) or they'd be able to hire college graduates

I've got a friend of a friend that's managed parts counters for Merc and now for BMW. He makes 6 figures. But he still drives an older Merc.

Most of the car sales people I've talked to are totally not gearheads. It's just a product to them.

The Business Manager at our dealershp drove a 330i E46 when I bought my first Bimmer in April 2004. But soon after, he was driving a Mazda 3, seriously. I mean, this guy, when I was doing my paperwork with him was a total fanatic, I mean, it was inspiring. And then I guess he had cash crunch or something, 'cause it must be torture to go from a 330 to a Mazda 3.

Most sales guys that do well do drive BMWs because they get sweet deals on leases. The money factor is basically nothing. My sales guy said they practically gave him a Z4 2.5 as a two year lease.

It seems to me as well that if they want these chaps to sell their cars that they should get to drive them a bit as well...There are reps who have never tried things like HDC or Active steering....I mean, if you get it, you'll push harder to sell it, no?

Sales Reps get to lease cars very cheaply if they do well. My new sales rep had a 525i that she was paying about 300.00 per month/no money down and now she drive a e90 very cheap (would not tell me how much). She also has an X5 that she olny pays 3 $70.00 for. She told me the better she does on ratings the cheaper it is to lease the cars.

Come to SC, Greenville..

Dealerships emplyees are not BMW employees. In SC, BMW plant. Most of the employees drive BMW, you see x5, 5er, 3er, z4, X3 everywhere. the lease goes like 6 months/6k miles. Them bmw autions out to dealers for CPO...
