Does build date refer to when the production is started or completed?

From my past experience, it means started. Expect to potentially up to two weeks after completion if it’s being delivered to your dealership. Trucking(shipping) delays are increasing.

They are looking up and down the supply chain for some missing nuts and bolt.

My X7 took approximately 3 weeks to get from "Awaiting Carrier Assignment" to arriving at the dealer in Central coast CA. It was by truck instead of by rail which was different than my wife's X3 which went by rail to southern CA and then trucked to dealer in central coast.

Dealer told me yesterday, my car will be ready for pickup late next week.
This morning, the status changed to "DISPATCHED FROM FACTORY"

I may have to push out the pickup date due to a business travel. Hope dealer won't let other people to test drive.

Mine said it arrived at the dealership today but haven’t received a call. I take it they will need to prep, etc. before calling me. Does this generally take a full day to do? When my Porsche arrived, they called me immediately and scheduled whatever time I wanted to pick it up.

Depends on the dealer and also if your MSO came with the car or is arriving separately. Just give them a call ;>)

I’m a bit miffed with my SA for forgetting to add the spare tire after i changed the wheel order. Not sure how he screwed that up since it was on the build order. He text me and said “I don’t recall you asking for the spare tire and I’ve already jump through hoops for you”. This is based changing my mind from 22”s to 21” and then back to 22”s before the production begun. Is it that difficult to do? Plus I am paying full price. I am what you would call an easy sale. Never even asked for a discount and only took a 10 minute test drive and proceed to spec the suv out to purchase. Car sales people have an easy job, not like they are doing a damn operation on someone or anything laborious.

I just checked mine. its still says "dispatched". I am CA, it will take longer for sure. I am out of town for a business trip at NYC. so....

Hope dealer wont give my car for test drive.

Check the mileage. It should have under 8mi. max

Unless things have changed, shipping to west coast is 2-4 weeks.

Update (10/13): BMW genius agent told me as of 10/13, car is on a trailer to Kansas City. Then Richmond, CA, then the bay area dealer. 2-4 week from dispatch is very reasonable.
