Post MY2022 BMW X7 Ordering Guide

Hello fellow members

I have been lurking for the longest time and just bought my first bimmer (all bimmers leased previously), which is the MY22 X7. It seems like a horrible time to get a bimmer now honestly because of the limited production and hence very little room for pricing negotiation and a lack of some nice options previously (e.g. HK).

With that said, I still ordered one and it is scheduled for production in late August! My dealer has also provided me with the MY22 ordering guide in the process and thought I'd share it here (sorry if it has already been posted previously).

Happy to discuss/share more about ordering details!

Hmm. DHP back, but only for m50. Wonder if it’s shortage related or they are reserving for the upmarket model? Mercedes only has EABC (sort of a beefed up DHP) on the 550, and not the base 450.

Hi, thanks for sharing your ordering experience! I was thinking about making the order now, do you have the ordering guide that you can share?

This is fairly accurate: https://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/x-models/x7/sports-activity-vehicle/build-your-own.html

that kind of makes sense because the DHP honestly doesn't make that big of a difference on the 40s anyway IMO. I have driven a 40 with and a 40 without, but couldn't really feel a difference.

I have attached the ordering guide in my original post. Let me know if you don't see it. This is my first time posting so I might be doing something wrong.

I see the attachment. Thanks for sending. Hopefully I’m wrong about the permanence of the lack of DHP on the 40 — people are split on the impact to cornering flatness, but almost everyone agree the decreased turning radius for the IAS portion of DHP is very noticeable.

I asked the dealer and they said DHP or IAS won't be available for 40i for MY22 and it's not likely there will be a mid-MY change, so your best bet would either be m50i or MY23 (but that will be LCI so it depends if you're OK with the look).

Honestly I sucked it up to get MY22 with all these limitations because I know I'll be blaming myself if I end up with the LCI.

I don't plan to make any aggressive driving in this family hauler and the handling without DHP seems to work for me just fine.

I was able to order IAS for my X740i.

I'll believe it when I see it completed but I placed an order this past week for a MY22 X740i and my CA was able to place IAS in the order and it does show up on my order under my production number in My Garage. No DHP but was able to have IAS in the order.

Maybe a glitch in the ordering software for BMW or may be pulled back later. Time will tell.

Does IAS make that much of a difference worth 1100 or so?

I'm sure the answer would vary depending on how you drive and who you ask this question to. However, from a price point perspective, it's not that bad of a price tag considering glass control is already $650.. lol

I personally didn't opt for it because I don't need it for how I drive and I think it's an extra thing to go bad down the road that needs fixing.

I'm sure a lot of people opted for it and love it!

Anyone know why Bowers & Wilkins isn't an option in the builder (US)?

Chip shortages, so it's been removed as an option for now.

Allocation

I have been waiting since Feb, for an allocation for a X7 M50i build and I am still waiting. Got an email today that still waiting on allocation, at this pace I may be looking at a 2023 LCI build that my wife do not want.

Since you are at Georgia, you can try different dealers and take Performance Center Delivery. My dealership had quite a few allocations in March and April. Right now could be your best time to contact dealerships coz I believe May allocation was just released.

X7 build

I got an allocation for a 2022 X7 for a wk 22 production start. Maybe one of the last 2022 done. I understand that the factory will close for July to adjust for the 2023 starting on 1 Aug. I have the Luxury seating or Executive packages on my build but no longer on the BMW web site, I think I got in just in time.
