X7 in TV and Film

Watching a new Netflix limited series "Stay Close" and just saw my first X7 on screen. The lead female character drives one. British RHD 40d. Good looking vehicle. Right away, I shouted "hey, that's an X7!"

Sadly, the show's not that great. Kind of a "Lifetime movie" for my fellow Americans.

They randomly have them in Succession on HBO, a show about a billionaire family. They never show enough to be able to discern between 40/50, it's mostly the cast being chauffeured around. They have a constant rotation between that, the GLS/Navigator/Escalade/Suburban

I can vouch for that… In my area, there are many. When we first got ours in Jan 2020… not so much.

I live in Chicago proper (West Loop) and see them fairly frequently, though not as common as X3 & X5's.

However, when dropping my son off at college in California I swear every 5th vehicle I saw was a white X7.

Excuse me, sir. Everybody knows “proper” Chicago is Wicker Park and Bucktown

Had to clarify as I meet people all the time that are "from Chicago" but were born and raised in Lockport, Naperville, etc.

Proud West-Sider here.

I know there was some sort of European spy-like series or film I saw recently where there was a convoy of 4 or 5 X7s hauling people around on occasion. The recent season of Hannah on Amazon Prime perhaps?

I'm pretty sure in the last season of the Bachelorette they were shuttling them around in the X7...

It's always cool when you see a car you own or admire pop up in TV shows or movies, isn't it? Makes the experience a bit more relatable. Sorry to hear the show didn't quite meet your expectations, though. ""Lifetime movie"" vibes aren't for everyone!
It's funny you should mention TV because I've noticed a growing trend of high-end cars making their way into both series and movies in theaters rn. Some of the latest blockbuster films have actually partnered with car companies for promotional stints. So we're not just seeing these vehicles on the small screen, but on the big screen as well

I would say that I see just about as many X7's as X5's in my area.

I definitely see more X7's in certain parts of my area, but not so much in other parts. I definitely don't see its sedan counterpart, the 7 series, anywhere nearly as much. I wish I did.

And, I think I've seen an X7 once in a film; I can't remember the name of the film, but it was an xLine trim.

I think it does make it more relatable when you see a car like yours in a film, but what always piques my interest is when I hear of or see a celebrity actually own one. I feel like that is what intrigues me the most.

Specifically, it's because I feel like celebrities are often seen traversing in their Rolls-Royces, Range Rovers, G-Wagons, Mercedes-Maybachs, and Escalades/Suburbans here in the United States. And so, I feel like it's a breath of fresh air when I hear of a celebrity with an X7.

I know that in India celebrities do have the aforementioned vehicles in their garages (except for the Escalades/Suburbans as they're not sold there), but they also are seen owning X7's. And I get really excited when I see them in a video with their X7's - in my mind I'm like "Cool, I've got that too! ... except with no chauffeur."

I also find it super super interesting which car in their collection celebrities take and to what occasion they take it for. Some take cars seemingly at random. Some take certain cars to certain places. Some take their new cars everywhere for a little bit and go back to using all their cars in a more uniform way. Additionally, I tend to try and correlate celebrities personalities (or, at least how they are portrayed to be in real life) with their car purchases. I might be in the minority here, but I personally think analyzing/theorizing car purchasing rationales as well as car usage behaviors is super fascinating.

The most X7's I've seen in one place at one time was at the BMW PGA golf event at Wentworth.
They were curtesy vehicles for the players.
Otherwise here around the outskirts of London you don't see that many which I like!

I live in a NJ suburb of NYC and I see X7s all the time. The vast majority are 40is. A handful are M50i/60is. One time I saw an XB7.
