I believe they are all daisy chained together for the doors and possibly footwells. If there is a fault on one, it will take down the others.

Sounds like you bought my 2019 x7 that bmw bought back lol. They couldn't figure out why some of the ambient lights won't work. Especially the ones in the roof. They even replaced the entire panoramic glass to no avail. Good luck.

I'm Having the Same Issue

Thanks for posting the solution. Question...Did you have to remove the door cover to find and fix the ambient light source issue? Can you give a bit more info on the resolution steps please?

I am having the same issue on my 2019 G05 and I am going to take the driver door off to try and fix this also. Curious which connector did you need to clean and grease to fix this? I will try and take pics and then upload after I do this.

Bobjour,

I recently had my car serviced after a pothole incident. Prior to the pothole, I lost a bunch of the ambient light strips - there was a bad connector that took out the lights in the center console, driver side door, passenger side door and driver footwell. They replaced it and all is well now. I don't have the electrical schematics to pinpoint exactly where the problem was but it was a quickly identifiable and fixable issue.

Did you just unplug the connection, clean it and plug it back together and it all worked? I believe I have the exact same issue.

I had the same issue at front passenger door, the SA claimed that is normal and showed me another car has a much worse ambient lights blowout so he refused to warranty it.
