Rear axle differential lock reduced

I bought a 2021 X7 M50i 3 days ago and all of a sudden today I have an error pop up when I turn the car on saying "Rear axle differential lock reduced, you can continue driving but see nearest service center". I called my SA and he doesn't really know what is causing/what the fix is, sending down to service the day after tomorrow, anybody have any experience with this in a car that has 240 miles on it? Any help appreciated, thanks.

So he ordered a new control module and installed it yesterday, and the error went away but then during the final calibration he said the car displayed an error saying differential temperature is 32000 celsius which is as hot as the sun basically so he's gonna reprogram it Monday

I have a ‘22 X7 M50i and am having this same exact issue. Taking it in today, but was curious if reprogramming it was the solution?

I just had the same message in my 20’ X4M, they isolated the problem to the servo motor of the rear differential. They ordered the part from Munich and it will take 3-4 weeks to get here. However, I am able to drive the car until the part gets here. Hope that helps

So they change the Servo motor and the error showed up again. Now they gonna change the control module. I’m hopping this issue wont keep coming back.

Dealer just bought mine back

They replaced the entire rear differential unit in mine. couldn't get it to work after 2 weeks in shop. they bought the car back. Seems like a serious problem with 2022 X7 m50i's

They replaced two parts already including servo and control module and that didnt fix it. I think we are heading toward that as you said. This is a major issue in the 22 M50i’s

So the problem turned out to be a wiring issue. A wire coming or going into the rear axle was not routed properly from the factory causing it to get damaged. The replace it and the problem is gone so far.

So far so good! The error message didnt return and everything working properly.

Go a head and reorder, BMW of north America got involved to fix it and I assume they gonna rectify the manufacturing error.

Although I was disappointed for that to happen in the first place, I have no regrets I got it and man I love this car.

Thank you for the update/good news, they haven't received the new servo motor yet for my car but the car is running fine. I will share your experience with the service department as well.
