Pics of leather dashboard option?

I see the option for leather dashboard but can't tell if it would add value or is worth it.

Read somewhere that it can get damaged easily in the sun. Would love to see some pics compared to dashboard without and your thoughts. Thanks.

You have to get it at this price point. Looks cheap and right in your face without it. The leather dash is a very durable option. I got a base model G05 X5 40i as a loaner and it had the rubber dashboard and it was not good even at the X5 base level build price. Maybe in a X1 or X2 it would be expected.

Highly agree with Mystro. The synthetic dash looks and feels pretty cheap in my opinion.

Here's a few pics of my leather dash. Favorite part for me is the contrasting stitching.

100% agree. You'll be staring at this portion of the car most of the time. It adds a nice cohesive touch. My dash gets pounded by the Colorado sun in the summer. I'm 20k+ miles and have no visual issues.

Worth it! I have it on my F15 X5 which is now 6 years old, the dash looks great still. It also makes a big difference to the feel inside the car. Putting my car next to an F15 without it makes the other one feel like a different car.

I checked the box on my X7 build.

I thought the leather dash was standard on all X7s or is this a cost option in US?
You wouldn’t expect anything other than this for a car of this price and prestige?
You may regret pulling the trigger without the leather dash in the future.
Had it in my F15 X5 as well for 4 years and never had an issue.

Upgrade option on USA, even on M50i. If you option full leather Merino, 4M5 pricing is included in the upgrade.

Replaces the SensaTec upper dashboard and front/rear window sills with leather - so it's technically not just the dashboard.

Yea I had to purchase it, we didnt get Merino (as much as I wanted it) the only leather color my wife liked was Cognac, kinda sucked you cant get that color in Merino.

They should at least have Nappa as the base leather, like in the 7, my 750 is Cognac Nappa as standard.

Bought my X7 used so I didn't have the option to buy the leather dashboard. The sensatec looks great to me and I'm not sure I would notice the difference, personally.

Since they are both stitched the same, most will not even realize. But, it is one of those options where if you know, you know. All depends on what you want. I think either looks fine. The leather is simply... finer. lol

Agreed, I built mine and my salesman told me that I would barely notice the difference and to save the money. He also knew the look I was after in building my vehicle so his recommendation was biased. In hindsight, personally, I think I would've regretted spending the $800-$1000 on the leather option. The Sensa Tech looks good enough for me and the stitching looks great.

Friendly reminder to those leasing these vehicles: You're paying less than half the cost of the option price during the lease.

An $800 option would cost you less than $20 per month.

Feels softer to rest your elbow while driving. If it rains one need to wipe the water off because it can cause damage

I am just curious but I got a bit confused with all the different leather options.
Unless you go BMW Individual route, the configurator does not allow a “full merino” option - the best you can get is “extended merino”. What is the difference between Extended Merino with the additional Leather Dashboard/Doors option and the Full Merino with that same option? It appears to be identical? Is Full Merino even a thing or just a term folks made up since it’s not on the configurable options?

It provides additional leather to entire lower dash, lower console, and entire door panels top to bottom.
