Spacers

I have an X7 on order that is supposed to move into the build phase this week. This is my first BWM and this forum has been extremely helpful in learning about the vehicle. As I'm sure you can all identify with....the wait is about to kill me!!

I've been looking at the posts mentioning spacers and I really like the look of the fuller wheel wells. I was thinking of going 15mm on the back and 12.5mm on the front.

My question - are there any downsides...or upsides other than the look?

I was wondering if there were any stability differences, warranty/service issues, etc.

Any feedback is appreciated!

BTW, here is a pic of my baby

Looks great. I run 20mm in rear and 15mm up front. Had them on for about 3 months now with no issues. If ever going back to the dealership, I remove them quickly in my garage in case that start pointing fingers and saying "the air conditioning isn't working properly because of the spacers." I've had Ford dealership give me some crap in the past and point to the oversized wheels by 1" be the issue on why the trunk won't close properly. So I tend to remove such mods before going back to dealerships.

I have 20 mm for front and rear to give it the more aggressive look during the summer. I love the look and gives me exactly the look I was trying to achieve. They're not for everyone but works for me. Good luck in your decision.

I have 15mm spacers fitted all round on my summer wheels and then opted for deeper off sets for the rear winter wheels without spacers.
No issues with the spacers after nearly 10 months use.

Great way to make an otherwise coherently designed luxury vehicle look like something parked in Amsterdams red light district.

15mm in front/20mm rear. Unfortunately I don't hv many pictures demonstrating the poke out from rear/front angles. I went with the most aggressive option that I was comfortable with 20mm/20mm…..during winter I use 15mm up front.

Sounds like someone’s had quite the tour through Europe. Just be sure to get tested!

Quick list of cons would be: chance of imbalance from spacer not matching up as well as wheel direct to hub, greater stress on bearings, potential rubbing, wheel bolt failure if not enough threads engaged in hub, worse aerodynamics with tire exposed beyond fender. Just a few things to think about because you asked and I didn't see any listed.

As a former local to both cities, I know quite well what certain neighborhoods and cars within them look like and apparently those looks are now avant-garde. Leave alone the negative impact of spacers - these vehicles aren’t your average American pickup truck where a couple spacers are considered part of good behavior and the abysmal resale value of those brodozers doesn’t bother the totally credit-worthy public. Putting them on a BMW goes beyond just bad taste but also to straight up asking BMW to deny any suspension, steering or wheel warranty claim.

And that’s just the quick list.

Haha....I think he may have a bit more than 15mm spacers on that bad boy.

I didn't realize this topic was such a hot button issue!!

Regardless, thanks all for the feedback!!
