I know this is being overused, but it's either this picture or unleash a torrent of abuse.

This question comes up once every two days it seems.

Firstly, it is highly likely if not definite, that the E90 will not come with a carbon roof. BMW have said the coupe versions of M cars will get carbon fibre roof (M3, M6 and possibly a smaller M coupe), whereas the sedan versions (M5 and M3 E90) will not.

Secondly, even if the E90 was offered with a carbon fibre roof, this picture tells you nothing to conclude anything ether way.

The carbon fibre roof could be an option.

The carbon fibre roof here could be disguised.

There were many pictures of the E92 without a carbon fibre roof, OR the sunroof.

This is just a mule.

Nice. Love the side profile of the SS. Car looks like it means bizness.

Couple of things in regards to the E90 pics..

1) we've seen better, less-camo'ed, pics of this car. it almost seems as if though they've added camo elements. i'm curious why.

2) if these pictures are true to form, the e90 doesn't look anywhere as good as other photos have suggested. the car looks boxy, and uninspired, whereas before, it looked low-slung and aggressive. for the sake of e90 M3 buyers, i'm hoping these are just poor pics.

To me the car looks very busy and over done in these pics (too much stuff tacked on to a small body i.e. bulge, vents, spoiler, ridges, creases, etc)- not smooth clean cohesive integrating free-flowing lines with an aggressive stance. Oh well. as was said, I hope that it looks better in person.

After three years with this body style, I was hoping for a refreshed look with the E90. It almost looks identical to my current car. The interior also looks almost identical. Thats a let down. I hope that it will look significantly unique in person come next year when my lease is up.

The hood buldge annoyed me enough to take my name of the waiting list but I'm still a prospective buyer. The E90 will simply have to compete with the RS5, C63 AMG, S5, and mabye even the 335i and G37. Had the M3 this time around looked as cool as it did when the E46 first came out, I'd be sold. BMW dropped the ball in terms of styling this time. They'd better hope, as I do, that the performance/price comparison reviews lean toward the M3. I have the advantage that my lease is up Septermber 2008. So I've got a whole year to sit back and read the reviews. It's going to be entertaining year for the auto enthusiasts.

(used to be on waiting list of E92 M3)
I haven't gone as far as to take my name off the waiting list for the E-90 M3 but my sentiments are with you 100%. Like you, my intent was to transition to the E-90 M3 when my current 330i lease expires at the end of October 2008. But the truth is I'm disappointed in what I am seeing regarding the styling of the new M3 sedan (ditto your comments). If I can't eventually get excited about this car, then I think that I'm going to forego some agility and handling in favor of some fresh aggressive styling in either the S or RS4 or the C63. The next 6-9 months will be very interesting as these competitors arrive on the scene and comparisons are made.

Well, compared to competion like the Audi RS4, this car is lookin kind of weak. Weird thing is, the more I look at it, the more I notice how beautiful it really is.

M has some work on their hands with the new RS series being released. The RS series A4, A5, and A6 will be giving others a serious run for their money.

I think the revised M after this E90 model will be designed more in the direction it should be. We'll see.

On the other hand, the E92 M3 is killer in looks and performance. :rocks:

I wish they would change the tail lights. If they would do that and flare the fenders nicely...I might go sedan. As it is I may push back until 09 now and see what develops...

I couldn't agree more about those tailights. They are hideous. They should be clear across the entire top half of them.

I'm pretty sure the revised E90 will have that.

I loved my 330i all around except the taillights...my first impression...and I cringe when I say this...was "Hyundai"

The only nice thing was at dusk the LED's looked really awesome. But, I couldn't only drive the car at dusk...the taillights were embarrassing IMHO.

Bleh. Between the power bulge, converging-diverging front fascia, shinkiller side skirts, weak fender vents, tight exhaust spacing, and recycled wheel design, BMW gets a from me on both M3 designs.

I somehow prefer if they make the M3 sedan with ordinary E90 sedan front style and make the rear with E92(coupe) rear style.
