It really adds a beautiful look and feel to the interior.
Does anyone know if I can order the Ceramic controls at U.S. parts counter?

I would have thought you could get them from the UK via eBay or similar. I have the ceramic option on my M5 so if you want any specific pics just let me know.

Do you know where I can order them from Canada and have them shipped here? Do you know if a Canadian BMW dealer would allow it and be willing to ship it to the US?

The face of the iDrive controller on the non-ceramic controls is a matte plastic version that does not pick up finger prints, etc. My buddy has a 2019 M550i with ceramic controls...and from being in his car I am personally just fine with the non-ceramic M5 controls.

Probably, since they are an option on regular G30's in the US. Should have been standard on the M5. Come on BMW USA!

For OP...

The ceramic iDrive controller is part # 65829459632
https://www.bmwpartslink.com/oem-par...10-65829459632

Cheapest I could find was $518. That's before labor assuming you don't want to DIY.

You can find them used on eBay.

As well as order in USA from anyone selling BMW Parts as they are available for the G30 and G32.

Bear in mind the ceramic parts absorb a lot of heat. If they sit in direct sunlight for too long you can literally get burned when touching the controller.

I’m confused a bit - what are the distinct advantages of ceramic controls?

Having compared ceramic controls in my F10 to non-ceramic controls of other F10's, I believe the ceramic controls feel heavier and more solid, imparting a subjective feeling of "quality." With the non-ceramic controls, I feel like there is a perceptible flex in the knobs if you squeeze them, or possibly just more off-center mechanical play to them, which contributes to a perception of lesser quality.

Yup, the standard controls feel like what they are, painted plastic.
