I ended up using those tires in A/S as follows 275/40R22 295/35/22 They have a 325/35R22 which will be perfect but is so MUCH more expensive ($700 a tire) compared to the 295/35R22 my 2 cents

I think you are speaking about the Pirelli Scorpion Zero? Correct? Would you mind taking a photo of the rear tire to show the fitment? Thank you! |

So where are we supposed to get tires for our X7s?? I have the 22 inch Y spoke rims and all the tire dealers and BMW dealers that I have contacted say the Pirelli P-zero run flats are back ordered. I already had to get 21 inch rims and winter tires to run this car in the winter and the summer tires have about one season left. I have to have a run flat because I have no spare or jack plus I would not fancy having to change a tire on the side of the road as heavy as those wheels are. Why would BMW equip a sport utility vehicle with such a limited selection of tires??

It's not just BMW, it's happening with every brand. The X7 can run with 20" - 23" rims, which are not unheard of. The tire industry is lagging in selection as wheels get bigger and bigger. If you're not finding a lot of selection in 22" (I get it), just be happy you don't have XB7 23" rims.

I have a set of the oem 22" run flat tires that I ran for about a month before taking them off and installing 285 45 22 all around non run flats. I wanted more cushion on the side wall and the 285 helps. Now I have to get a spare and jack kit for peace of mind.
For long trips, I place the oem 21" run flats back on the vehicle for now until I get the spare. I keep the 22" (285 45 22) on for daily commutes. I was thinking about selling the oem 315 staggered set up since it was only on for a month but with all the tire shortages I keep hearing about, I might as well just hold on to them instead of being caught behind a 3 week wait tire for one freaking tire!! Ouch. |

tire shopping, especially to move to all seasons, would be much simpler if BMW allowed buyers to opt for square setups for the premium sizes. There are more tire options for the SAV front sizes including all season sizes in a very BMW right hand not talking to the left, in the car world, on vehicles such as the 330/m340/530/540 series a buyer can opt for most of the larger premium wheel options in square all season configuration or staggered summer only, but on the vehicles where that offering would make even more sense (SAVs) it does not exist. For those that are trying to decide between the 22" P-Zero and Continental, in my experience the Continental are far better in longevity, even though the lifespan is still atrocious. Our 2020 X7 came with the Conti, I only got about 12k miles on the rears and they were all the way at the wear bars. Figured hey lets try the Pirelli P Zero (and I am not a Pirelli fan) and had them installed on all 4 wheels in September, along with a 4 wheel alignment. Five months and 6k miles later, they are getting close to the wear bars. I may try the 295/35-22 rear Pirelli all seasons next as their treadwear rating is 500 vs 320. But being Pirelli, I wonder if they will last as long as the stock Conti even with their 320 treadwear rating. Just confirms even more that Pirelli tires suck at least for me. So yeah, the tire choices in the 22" wheels is awful, if you drive a lot I would stay clear of getting an X7 with 22" wheels unless you want to be getting new tires every year. Hope more options come in the future but doubtful as X7 has already been out for three years and nothing has come about.

Great luck with my new Falken Ziex STZ05 22s A/S non run flat
I posted another thread with just the name of the tires in the title so it didn't get much action as I didn't do a decent job of describing in more detail why it was I was mentioning them.
So I thought I'd post it here in a reply because I cannot be happier. Just drove out to Arizona from California, through and around the desert and now I'm up here in Flagstaff in snow. I bought the 285/40/22s for the front and 305/40/22s for the rears which really fit, look and drive very well. I drove twisties in sleet and snow as well as sand and gravel earlier in the week with temps in the 80s. Overall a very nice experience, even coming in hot on a few corners. The tread is fairly aggressive and yet a 50k warranty, which means I'm hoping to get close to half that, which for the x7 isn't bad. Pics are on my other post. Best of luck with your search... |

Why don't the Continental DWS's show up for the X7 when you search on TireRack? I was able to find them when I searched by size but could not find them as one of the recommended tires for the X7. I assume it's spec related somehow but could not see where it's not meeting the requirements of the X7.

I was thinking it may be spec related for the X7 as well. Maybe it's simply because the tire is that new. |

Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS Front: 275/40ZR-22 XL, 108W Rear: 315/35ZR-22 XL, 111Y They will not show as a matching F+R for the X7 because of speed rating, but the load rating is fine -- in fact, the front tire exceeds it (by 1). TireRack rep confirmed that speed rating mismatch will not be an issue. DiscountTire confirmed that they will install it as long as it meets the vehicle's minimum load rating. Those who are putting on alternate sizes are taking a gamble. You may be just fine -- fits fine, drives fine, no rubbing etc. But the day you start feeling driveline or differential vibrations, keep your fingers crossed. I personally, am not taking a chance with warranty on the xDrive. I've had a few AWD vehicles in the past, but this is my first with staggered fitment. Hell, I even drove my MB ML350 4matic for over 10k miles with 1 new tire vs 3 older tires. Typically though, Front and Rear need to have same diameters...or at least within a certain % diff (don't know what BMW's official stance on that is). |

At Discount Tire, you can only do the rear in a 110Y, does that matter? This a great option that's been needed for a while! |
