This is more complete. That's all. Nothing wrong with Miatas, loved mine. But it's hardly the small/light/simple end of the spectrum.

I love my 1970 Cutlass S. Only has 30k OG miles and is like a time capsule. It is great to get into a classic like that and not have to worry about anything, just drive it.

Good luck on your search!

Most 60's Chevelles I'm seeing (I've been not seriously looking but thinking about one as well the last 5 months or so), are $35K+ for a good example. Probably won't find anything under 20 unless it's a bad year or in bad shape. Hope you find what you're looking for

About $10K for you. Leaves $10K in case is shits itself, which it shouldn't, that model is pretty solid.

Man I hate that googly eyed thing. Used to see them frequently in Frankfurt and they never grew on me. Doesn't help that they tried to call it a GTV.

no one else has mentioned that the OP has a charger...notes he doesn't want a bmw/mb/etc high maintenance cost car yet --- he's on a bimmer forum...smh.

i'm sure those mopar/ford/chevy guys can find you a car from awhile back under 20k...after all, as long as it wasn't 90's or newer -- you might find a car that actually holds value lol

/sidebar

-- if you're looking in that price range -- you could always find a twin turbo 300zx; they're a blast to drive and can be had for that price.

I get it, that design and the fwd just don't do it for me. I fully admit to loving the equally ugly previous (rwd) version, the SZ, which conveniently didn't besmirch my true love, the 2000GTV.

Ever stop to think I have previously owned a BMW?

I'm looking for something to drive & enjoy, not stare at it b/c I want the value to go up.

Hard pass on the 300 & the old Z cars too unless LS swapped, then maybe.

not saying you haven't owned one -- but i'm just suggesting that perhaps a bimmer forum isn't the best place to look for suggestions -- bias and all.

as for the Z...you could buy an NA for CHEAP and put in an LS swap the way you want it -- i mean, that's 400+ hp in a very fun driving car.

I'm sorry that everyone here only likes BMWs then?

I really don't have the patience for all that work nor do I want to boot the HC from the garage for winter. I also like to buy cars with work already done. Saves me a lot of time & $

If we're talking LS swaps, Miatas and FD RX7's both make more sense than the heavier, more dated looking 300Z.

But yeah, for turnkey, we've moved well on from OP's budget.
