Also works from the USB-A in the center console.

BMW did a great job by putting the connections down there at the center console. Simply looks more organized.

I'd say this system is also perfect for ROKU. Plug in the ROKU in the HDMI and in one of the USB-ports for power and connect it via hotspot and there you have live TV...

Will the same method works for the screen in the front row?

It should if the car is stationary. But while in motion, I don't think so. We would need to get the "Video in Motion" code break.

Nice! If you don't mind me asking, with all 3 screens displaying the same source, is the source (USB) plugged into the front console or the rear?

I assume the X7 has a front USB as well but I doubt it has a front HDMI and since I'm planning on using a Roku, I was wondering if I could plug the Roku in the rear HDMI and watch the content on the front screen - when stationary, of course...

Thanks!

Regretting not having the entertainment system now! Is it something the dealership can add later?

You can use the USB A up front or one of the two USB C in the rear. Have not tried the HDMI yet. I will give it a shot next time I bring my iPad to work

The HDMI in the second row works great. I plugged in an Amazon fire stick we had lying around. We can watch streaming live TV, Netflix, amazon video, etc. Have to make sure you get a right angle HDMI adapter or short cable so the stick isn’t sticking straight out where one of the kids will kick/break it. But works great.

Same annoyance as noted above-my kids are too small to operate it themselves, so I have to go back and figure it out for them, can’t just turn it on while driving.

Absolutely. I have it streaming live TV via YouTube TV. Would be great for road trips if you have an unlimited data plan. The Rear Seat Entertainment package has definitely surpassed my expectations. The ability to play videos via USB-c/a/HDMI makes it very versatile.

Nice!

I think BMW is currently offering the best RSE-system on the market.

Size Limit?

Do you know if there is a size limit for the USB connection? I plugged in a 500GB Samsung Portable SSD T5 via USB-C and it will NOT show on the Media screen. However, a 128GB thumb drive, connected via a USB-A-to-USB-C adapter shows up just fine. Thanks.

The larger SSD may not be getting enough power. I believe the USBs only supply 2.1A max from seeing some of the settings while coding.

Hmm.. Thanks.. Maybe I'm misreading it, but according to the drive specs, it only uses 0.8A. Strange.
