Tanzanite X7 M50i - Arrived

Right off the bat - the car is a BEAST. We traded our 2015 X5 after a good run and BMW has addressed a lot of our concerns from previous model years and really hit it out the park with the X7. Exhaust-note, power delivery, build quality, and exterior styling are the definite high notes.

DEAL INFO:
MSRP: $120,095
Negotiated Price: $111,095
Incentives: $1,250 Loyalty Credit, $3,000 M50i APR Credit
Price w/ Incentives: $106,845
Post-Sale Credit: CCA $1,000

I had planned on going thru with USAA and their $2k credit for the X7 but we lucked out with timing as BMW just released a 3k APR credit for the M50i in mid-November, coupled with the loyalty credit going thru BMWFS, it was a no-brainer. Deals are definitely out there to be had.

OPTIONS:
C3Z - Tanzanite Blue II
MCRI - Cognac Vernasca Leather
ZCW - Cold Weather Pkg
ZDH - Dynamic Handling Pkg
ZDY - Driving Asst. Pkg
ZLS - Luxury Seating Pkg
ZPX - Executive Pkg
300 - Space-saver Spare
3AC - Trailer Hitch
4M5 - Leather Dashboard
4NM - Ambient Air Pkg
4U5 - 2nd Row Captain's Chairs
6F1 - Bowers & Wilkins Sound System
6FH - Rear-seat Entertainment Professional
7M9 - Extended Shadowline Trim
ZWH - 21" 754M Wheels

The only option not selected was the Night Vision pkg as it would be of limited use for us for the price point offered. As for why we decided against M50i specific-22" wheels, as good as they look, the lack of winter tire options led us towards the 21" 754M wheels with all-seasons and decided to powder coat them black to match the Shadowline trim. Dealer also threw in the all-weather floor mats as well so that was a few hundred dollars less to spend.

TIMELINE:
Oct 24 - Order Placed - Week 46 Allocation (Nov 17)
Oct 31 - Scheduled for Production, VIN received
Nov 11 - Production Begins
Nov 11 - Exterior Body Assembly Begins
Nov 12 - In the Paint Booth
Nov 12 - Entering the Assembly Line
Nov 13 - Assembly in Progress
Nov 13 - Quality Check
Nov 13 - Final Assembly
Nov 14 - Ready for Transport
Nov 14 - Awaiting Carrier Assignment
Nov 20 - Dispatched from Factory
Nov 21 - CA calls and says car arrived at Dealer. Website still stuck at last status.
Nov 26 - Car Delivered. Website finally updated.

Delivery was right at 4 weeks from order to drive-off. The key was finding a dealer with a verifiable allocation. I know others are experiencing production delays but we had no issues with our build.

MODS PLANNED:
  • Powder coat wheels Satin Black [DONE]
  • IND Painted Reflectors
  • MAX360c Blendmount & Mirrortap
  • BimmerTechAndroid MMI (when released) - This car needs Android Auto in a bad way.
  • Bimmercode - code out warning, auto/stop-start

KINKS/FIGURE-OUT/RTFM LIST:
  • Removing rear headrest for kid booster (full booster does not fit)
  • Getting Roku to connect to car Wifi hotspot - It doesn't even see the SSID and looks like there's no way to change the wifi channel (which is a known Roku issue)
  • Remote start via Android App - for the life of me I can't find the option unless this is Apple-only?
  • Laggy and low volume on RSE bluetooth headsets
  • Wireless charging pad overheats my Pixel 4XL - Will need to play with this more to see if this is a Pixel specific issue.
  • Passenger-side roof tweeter/speaker crackles - sounds bad, likely needs replaced

Overall though - BMW hit a knock-out with this car. Now to surprise a few folks on the highway in "Mexico" with the sleeper SUV

It's a beauty! It looks more like carbon black than Tanzanite blue in these pics. Congrats and enjoy in good health. 4 weeks timeline gives me hope to collect mine before Christmas holidays.

In the immortal words of Paris Hilton, "That's hot."

Is that interior trim the "Fineline Black Wood"? I think that's the one I'm gonna go with when I order next month. I love the cognac... I wish my spouse did.

Very sexy ride, though. Congrats!

Best looking one with 21's I've seen. I'm so torn between 21's and 22's. But don't want performance for winter and dont really need dedicated snow either where I live.

If they offered all-seasons in the 22s, I'd have went that route. Too boot, BMW doesn't offer an all black 21" wheel set from the factory which makes the choices hard.

Auto start works via android app. You might have to manually update your app via the app store. I had issues at first, but it works now. And bmw calls auto start "climatize now".

Exact reason why I opted for 21". Not sure if I'll powder coat them but they look awesome!

Awesome car. If you figure out a way to easily remove the headrests, please post. I’ve got the same issue.

Beautiful! And to confirm, you said you got the loyalty credit by financing through BMW FS, *and* the USAA credit? I keep forgetting, but I thought you had to finance through USAA to get the $3k USAA credit.

It read it as he went the higher BMWFS Nov $3K financing credit (versus USAA $2K) and BMW loyalty $1250.

Though he qualifies for $500 USAA incentive for lease/retail loan financed through BMWFS.

From my USAA certificate:
2019 & 2020 BMW USAA Incentives

Incentives for eligible 2019 and 2020 models.
-$500 Incentive for Lease and Retail Loan financed through BMW Financial Services. Exception: BMW FS Lease not available for i3.

I love that color interior. I don't understand why I couldn't get that leather in a bench seat? Did they not have a big enough cow?

Few mods completed:
  • Full XPel PPF and Nanolex Si3d coating.
  • 50% 3M tint on driver/passenger.
  • IND painted front and rear reflectors.

Tanzanite is really popping even on a cloudy day.
