Arctic Grey X7 with Stealth PPF Wrap

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I'm taking possession of an Artic Grey 2022 X7 40d next week and will be getting it wrapped in PPF. I've never actually seen the colour in real life, (dealer only had 2 options - Arctic Grey or Mineral White) but am thinking that a matte/stealth wrap might work really well on Arctic Grey.

Has anyone gone down this path? Would love to see some pics - or alternatively a convincing argument that clear PPF is the way to go as AG on its own is amazing... :-)

On a side note, Arctic Grey can be configured as a "frozen" BMW individual color - no need for wrapping it to get the matte/frozen effect.

This is the closet thing I can find online. I have my name down for a 2023 X7 and am planning on doing stealth PPF as well.

I'd agree that makes more sense - however there were only 2 x 2022 models left with the bench seat - mineral white and Artic Grey. There next batch coming out for the rest of the year is all 6 seaters which doesn't work for me.

I would do PPF regardless, but have never done stealth before. I still haven't seen the actual car yet, do might feel different once I see the colour. But then I'm going to need to black out some of the trim - like the rear strip and maybe the hockey sticks, and the rear tips are shiny chrome too - hopefully picking up tomorrow. Lets see...

The video is great but quality like 2000s...

Well, the deed is done, and my 50d is history and now I have a 40d replacement.

Pics below to show the colour. Having seen it in the flesh, the colour is definitely better than I expected. I'm now on the fence regarding the clear vs stealth wrap. As to the car itself, the additional extras of B&W sound system, ventilated massage seats, rear seat entertainment really make a difference. (No wireless charging weirdly, but I can live without that). I'm still going to miss my M50D though, it was a beast.

I'm biased because I also have this color, but damn it looks great.

So I went for the matte wrap. They've only just started so I need to be patient. A few pics so far…

So they sent me a few more pics. The outside is done. I'm also putting PPF on the interior surfaces and leather coating for the upholstery. Then a ceramic coat for the wheels.

Comparing these pics to the earlier ones, here it seems to look more like Artic Grey. Hope I like it when I pick it up. Some photos in sunlight will probably help.

Next up I'll be swapping the rear silver strip and the exhaust tips for gloss black. Then (if they ever arrive) will replace the sliver badges with black.

Now, I'm wondering whether to remove the roof rails and whether I should paint the wheels gloss black?

Don't do gloss black. It's boring. Make the wheels Matte finish grey.

Dechrome the exhaust tips and rear mid bar, remove the side steps and spray the wheels matt black or gun metal grey.
I love the matt wrap but wonder how it will hold up over time from swirls and scratches.
Good job so far though

Gloss black tips and rear strip are hopefully getting fitted this week. They are waiting at the dealer.

The wrap is self-healing so any scratches or swirls shouldn't be a problems (famous last words)..

How did you get the M badge on the sides? Is that only on international X7s? I've never seen it in the US

It was delivered that way. Any M Sport trim versions here generally have the M badge on either side. I didn't realise that wasn't the norm elsewhere...

Yeah, i don't think the USA versions have the M badge on the side, or haven't seen one yet and mine doesn't
