New Android Phones (Galaxy S6, HTC One M9) Compatibility

Has anyone had a chance to test compatibility of the new android phones? My M235i is on order and I am switching from my iphone 5 to one of these two android phones. I am concerned about lack of connectivity since it seems like BMW leans heavily toward iphones.

My main concerns are bluetooth audio streaming and phone calls. It would be nice if I could see/load my contacts from the idrive screen but it wouldn't be a deal breaker.

Anyone have experience with the '15 m235i and android devices?

I did a full running test on a pair of 2015 M235xi cars at 2 different dealers using a Galaxy S4 mini and a Galaxy Note 4.

Both worked with the Bluetooth system fine for calls and for using my contact lists. I didn't test audio streaming, as I prefer to use a USB stick (which worked fine) for audio. The car I tested with Enhanced Bluetooth could read texts messages from both at the same time. Not all of the Office features may be supported, however.

Awesome--are you saying you tested one with enhanced BT and one without BT? I'm guessing the one w/o enhanced couldn't read texts?

Thanks.

I tested both styles, one car with enhanced Bluetooth, one with "normal" Bluetooth.

Enhanced hooked both phones for full usage at the same time for calls and texts, and you could designate which phone could be used for audio. Normal only had full call usage on one. IIRC, non-enhanced could still read texts, but only from one phone at a time. I ended up ordering enhanced, so a guarantied recollection of non-enhanced's performance didn't make long-term storage.

BMW's "compatible phones" page is having one of its frequent bouts of lunacy, now recognizing only iPhones, even though it's had a full Samsung lineup in the past.
