Hyundai Sonata ad takes aim at 525i...

Wow, I just love this. imo it isn't the smartest move to place your product next to its competition when it looks like crap standing next to it.

Enjoy:

Hyundai is a good company, and I think they are really starting to make quality after quality automobiles, but they wont catch BMW, they are not even in the same leauge.

i think its pretty smart. people looking at sonata are not cross-shopping bmws. BUT, if you can make them think, "hey, i can get this sonata and itll be as good as a bmw" then you might make a sale

It was like chevy comparing the Equinox to the RX330. pathetic .

Wasnt Hyundai the one who also was claiming a few things over their 'large car' over the 760i? Something like more space than a 760i... ...smart move...

well, it would be a smart move if you knew that the 760i and the 745/750i are all the same size. But most of the people in the market for a hyundai dont have a clue about the 7 series

this is worse. An rx300i is a highlander. This one makes no sense espically since the 525 is no longer being made.

It's all about marketing. They're trying to appeal to buyers who are value conscious thus lining it up with the 525 is pretty smart. It's like "hey look! we have all the features that the 525 has and more. Our car also costs $20k less!" Smart move IMO.

That is pretty much it! I love how BMW is compared by cars in its league and not its league, it shows that BMW is the Benchmark for 3, 5, and 7 Series!

Allright, I am selling my BMW and buying a Sonata. That's it, the best deal in the world. By any chance... can I get it in Walmart too? oh, and please, next day shipping.

Now here's one that makes more sense:

Hyundai Limited vs. Lexus LS460

Still don't like Hyundai's styling though...too granny looking.

next thing you will see is Nike puting out an ad...comparing their brand of sneakers and saying how much better to walk than driving a Hyundai Sonata...cheaper, eco-friendly and more fuel efficient.

i hate people who compare apples to oranges.

they're targetting the uneducated about cars and the lazy. Think about it! If they say all those things and then get you to go test drive one, you'd be thinking, I feel like crap driving this cheap piece of shit. BUT i'm here already so i might as well

LOL

Next ad...

The Ferrari F430 and the Hyundai Tiburon SE.

The Ferrari has a six speed transmission, so does the Tiburon.

The Ferrari also has a cross-drilled rotor with red calipers, so does the Tiburon.

The Tiburon has a rear high spoiler, the Ferrari does not.

At $200k, it's just smart.

I think they went bankrupt because of other things...nothing to do with that ad...
Also, Hyundai is one of the smartest companies out there. <10 years ago, they had a crappy Excel, and Pony, look at them now.
Another smart thing is that they won the China Cab (at least Beijing) business over the VW that is made in China!!! And Beijing is probably the city with the largest number of taxis. 3 years (or less) ago, it was all VW on the streets, now it is Hyundai Elantra for the Olympics...

Of course, you cannot compare Sonata and 5er, or Azera to the LS, but all their ads say is that people that cannot afford the luxury can feel good about their choice...
