Finally finished detailing my new X7 M50i (pic heavy)
As many know I am a detailing guy even at a competitive level with PCA. I found even a new BMW needs some paint correction and generally needs all the production dust inside removed. It gives you a great opportunity to get to know a new car.
Fit and finish was excellent. Paint quality was very production good but I did do a mild over all buffing to get it damn near perfection. The cosmoline in the door jams and doors are always fun to remove and polish. I had one overcast day to take some pics before the rain. These are the pics I have so far: Suspension level normal (2 up from the lowest) Sapphire black and Tartufo A lot of leather. The stitching even in the third row window pickets are outstanding. Stance is low as you can get. Perfection on the dead grass. Suspension up one notch from bottom. Last edited by MystroX5; 08-04-2020 at 12:46 PM.. |

Black is beautiful (especially when it's this clean). Well done.

Looks awesome! Cool plate too! Did you do ceramic too? The cerium wheels don't actually look half bad with the shadowline trim. Nice job.
I'm in PA too but will be driving my X7 M50i alllllll the way to Jersey the day of delivery for PPF and ceramic. |

I just ceramic coated the wheels and calipers. I used other waxes from a detailing company I am sponsored with. Black is a awesome color to indulge in multi step detailing. I use a variety of waxes on different angles and panels to reflect the light in different directions. P21 is a favorite. Not to get into it too deeply but I developed a technique when doing full concourse shows in Hershey and PCA events with my classic 911’s. Different waxes and polishes can work better on different panels of the car depending on its reflection angle from overhead light. |

Pricy. I think I paid around $300 for the pair. They are alcantara and BMW quality so.......? My wife is a quilter and she thought about making them but by the time you found the right material and the dye lot probably won’t be a spot on match, you might as well go OEM. There are two kinds of these cuddle pillows. Ones that the wide strap fits all the way around the head rest (as shown ivory white). Then there is the other ones that have the smaller strap that fits my current X7 head rest.
I thought these were a standard item for the X7. Pics shown on 2nd row G05 X5 headrests. Last edited by MystroX5; 08-05-2020 at 06:50 AM.. |
