I don't see anything so limited edition other than the interior colors and materials for the seats.

The rest is plain simple and nothing new.

I would've expected special limited edition wheels at the least. Special badging, different grill, maybe blacked out headlights interior, totally white /smoked taillights
Door projectors with the badge ... show me something limited
Yeah, I get it. There are definitely some special edition elements, namely the paint. These 22" rims look to be the blacked-out versions of the other 22" X7 rims--the 22" black wheels all of us have been wanting to get, but not previously available. But could be more "special", or limited edition.

I've never owned a matte paint car before, but do like the look. Quick research seems to indicate that PPF and ceramic is still possible. Would need to protect the paint, and yes, would require extra work.
I mean they toyed a bit with the colors.
Doesn't really qualify for limited edition in my book.

Blacked out 22" wheels. Anyone could've blacked out his similar wheels rendering it unlimited anymore. Paint *meh* individual that.
Not limited.
Limited in my book is something that's totally new and isn't similar to anything out there in total.

Take the BX7 wheels. Their exclusive to Alpina

What's exclusive to this shadow limited edition shape not just color variations. Granted the alcantara is one for the seats.but what else?

I do have to agree. Would have been more "limited edition" to have a new body molding piece, or leather (ahem... LAVALINA), or engine (or even engine programming) you can't get on any other model. With the exception of the semi-exclusive matte paint, you're right, everything seems to be a coloration variant of existing M50i components.

So, think you have to take it for what it is. A special color variation of a standard M50i.

I haven't really given the X7 much thought. I bet that interior looks way better in person. The only thing I would change are the special edition badges. It looks bad ass from the exterior shots.

I really like the M-sport X7s. This one is awesome in my book. I shouldn't have shown it to my wife. She went nuts over it.

Best full size luxury SUV on the market. Great performance paired with luxury interior and majestic appearance. If I ever needed a full size SUV, this would be my choice.

It's beautiful. If I just dropped $$$$ on a three year lease on a 2020 or bought one outright I'd be saying this car sucks too.

Already created my own version that's arguably darker than this dark shadow. Nice to see BMW offer frozen paint, wish they would allow more paint specific options on X models for those of us willing to pay the premium. The rest of this is the usual "special edition" packages BMW puts together from existing parts.

Matte paint is tough to keep perfect especially if you're an OCD clean person like me. Been there done that, not doing it again. I would PPF the entire vehicle if I bought that for sure.... so add another 5k or more to the budget to cover that if you want it done properly.

Congrats WildBlue I have been on here as long as you have so I get the reasoning behind pulling the trigger now with all this uncertainty going on on what looks to be a fairly well equipped vehicle. I pulled the 2020 M50i fully loaded trigger because of all the 2021 uncertainty and I'm glad I did given the discounts that I got. Hopefully you get a good discount on this special edition but my guess is the dealers are going to hold price on it closer to MSRP.

Welcome to the M50i family , mine is arriving next week and I can't wait Watching those dots for two months has been rough.

Haven't got the call from the dealer yet. Production starts August (next week?) for rest of the world, USA comes Q4 2020, so I'm guessing like November
