Sorry guys but this hurts.
Parked nicely between two cars- one handicap and one regular spot-
Came back to my car after shopping at Walmart to find a 4inch door ding on the body line passenger door.
Any idea of should I attempt to fix it or any Long Island NY body shops recommended?

All member feedback is appreciated during this difficult time.

I know I'm "that guy" but I try to double park near the back of the lots, just for that reason.

if you fix, then I suggest you pay the extra $1-2k and get a full 3M paint protection film wrap as a coatings to keep dings and rock chips from banging it up.

Has the paint been broken? If not, go with PDR - they do magic. Sorry to hear, and good luck

My other car was mangled with hail damage from a big storm last summer. Local PDR did an amazing job ... I couldn't believe the end result.

1 week after purchase - daughter sliders her bike peddle down door in garage

2 week after purchase - large rock chip on hood

3 week after purchase - wife runs the front fender into garage door frame

3 week after purchase - rock chip to windshield

4 week after purchase - $750 dollars fixed everything but the windshield

Trying to keep it looking new is a battle.

You're giving me anxiety and my X7 won't be here for another week I can't tell you how many times my 3 kids have scraped their bikes down the side of my cars.

I feel your pain-
I got a quote from dealer of $700 to fix and paint.
Thought it was too high to do it now..

That's a real bummer. I would say to invest in a PDR, get the dent pushed back out. That way if you repaint down the line, the bondo used will be minimal. And in the meanwhile, you can run some touchup paint after PDR down that line. I've had better success hiding chips that run along body lines than in the middle of the panel.

Hate Walmart parking lots. I park all the way to the other end where traffic is less. The closer you park to the store entrance, better chances of dents as cars keep moving in and out around your's. I learned the hard way with my 1 day old 911. Parked nicely in front of Macy's and found a 1" round dent on passenger door. No paint damage but PDR wasn't easy for the aluminum panel. Also, I don't park on slopes and near those cart ports.
PDR and touch up is what I would do for now. I feel the pain, it'll be there for few weeks.

I'm always thinking I see a ding in that ridge when I approach my car.... than I get there and see everything is ok..
Must have been another SUV or Truck door that hit it... ? the ridge is pretty high.

Have you cleaned the paint with alcohol? Sometimes what seams to be broken paint is actually what is left from the other car. With denatured alcohol you can try to clean this off.

On second hand handicapped spots I would avoid. If there is really handicapped person there is a reason why they need more space so parking beside one can be surprising.
