Master home wash and detailers?

Love to know what products people are using when washing/detailing their cars at home? Exterior paint, rims, etc? Interior for leather and carpet? Thanks!

i have mine ceramic coated so my washes are pretty easy... here's a list of items from the place i got my x7 done at: https://detailership.com/aftercare-p...ecommendations

I do also have the chemical guys foam soap for pre-washing (used with a sun joe power washer), but i mostly just use optimum no rinse these days w/ the hand pump.

I had found this video to be helpful and he lists all the products he uses -

Ha, I read this quickly at first and was and thought you meant the exterior paint on your home and some good indoor leather and carpet cleaners... Not going to lie, I was excited if that was the case because I simply can't stand the marketing BS within the home cleaning market, so I was helping to get some good honest advice on what to use in the home from other detailers.

As far as the car, I jumped on the chemical guys bandwagon a couple of years ago myself. There were a couple of products of theirs I like a lot (e.g. melon foam wash, butter wax, hybrid V07 sealant), and their VRP, Wheel Cleaners, and Leather care products were all okay enough that I just let my OCD set in and stuck with the brand.

There's a lot of good advice to be found in the M forums, likely much better than you'll get here (sorry fellow X7 owners). Even though I'm fanatic about keeping my M3 clean, I don't think I'll ever do more than a handwash with some added quick detail her and there on the X7...

Contactless car wash, I found one that does it very well, then drying up with microfiber cloths.

Why microfiber cloths and not cotton towels?

I used in the past cotton towels and they always leave something, the microfiber I think gives better finish and is more effective in drying.

I buy while big pack at Costco and then wash them same like you would do with cotton towels. Those are the yellow microfiber towels.

I have been doing this for several years now and to be honest I do not see a point anymore to spent time on washing by hand. However again I looked for specific car wash most of them are not good washing, and always do the Cyrene wash with wax.

Holy mother! I was under the impression that my M50i was the beast in the garage. Just got this, and boy, it does not disappoint, especially when you kick it up to 8HP. Can dry the whole car in under 10 minutes.

I had one for a day years ago and promptly returned after it left dry water spots all over the car. I use a combo of leaf blower and microfiber now.

Yes. +1 for Chemical Guys. I use ceramic coating specific on the X7, but love their car wash and their "Black Light" on the M3. I also use their Diablo wheel cleaner that has pretty good "Stickiness."

Also, if you have existing DeWalt 20V cordless tools, the portable, cordless (and corded) vacuum cleaner works really well. It is not "shop vac" suction, but does pretty well for a cordless.

Thank you. I have ordered EcoSmart Waterless care wash, Innerclean interior, and Sprayable Leather cleaner conditioner from CG. Since X7 is new, do we still need to apply conditioner?

If it's a cleaner+conditioner, that should be okay for normal quick maintenance, but I wouldn't go overboard with it since it likely isn't cleaning and/or conditioning very well. You might want a separate cleaner/conditioner to use a couple times a year for a deep clean.

I don't have experience with that specific product (I use their separate cleaner and conditioner which are okay, just don't like the fake leather smell of the conditioner), but any 2-in-1 product with counteracting agents seems odd to me. The idea behind a cleaner is to remove oils/grease/grime/etc. whereas a conditioner adds in oils for protection and elasticity.

Just purchased one of those. It's a monster - Still need to wash car first thing in the morning before the sun comes around the side of the house
